The thing with "raw talents" is they are hard to come by and harder to spot.
The fact that Su Yuming and the other fellow can accomplish some firsts
means a system is in place for such talents to emerge. It doesn't mean every
such talent has to succeed. Most don't.

because there are only talents there, but because vast majority of Chinese
kids won't participate due to geography. Even that could be limited because
of (lack of) good ski resorts even in Jilin.

everybody swing a hockey pusher. Diversity is equally important.
