MOUNT WASHINGTON, N.H. —
The hiker rescued in the White Mountains over the weekend has died.
The rescue happened on Gulfside Trail near Mount Washington late Saturday
night.
The hiker, identified as a Xi Chen, 53, of Andover, Massachusetts, texted
his wife saying he was cold and wet.
Officials said Chen was attempting a Presidential Traverse hike when he
encountered severe weather.
A team of rescuers found him unresponsive and in a hypothermic state. | d******r
