Investigators from the Office of the National Prosecutor (OM) of the
Netherlands have completed the first phase of their work in definitely
determining the cause of the mid-aid explosion and crash of Malaysian
Airlines Flight 17 (MH17). Preliminary information leaked to the Dutch media
has concluded that a Russian unit is responsible for the shootdown.
Most of the collected debris from the aircraft, a Boeing 777 that crashed on
17 July 2014 while en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with the loss of
all 298 on board, is now spread out in hangers at the Royal Netherlands Air
Force's Gilze-Rijen airbase where investigators have been probing the
wreckage for evidence.
The OM is part of a Joint International Team (JIT) conducting a criminal
investigation charged with initially identifying what brought the aircraft
down and from where. A second phase of the investigation is to then identify
those responsible and bring them before a court with the proper
jurisdiction.
According to all of the evidence the JIT has reviewed, which has included
more than one million documents, photos and videos, the conclusions to date
are that the MH17 was downed by a Buk-M1-2 surface-to-air missile (SAM)
launched from a Russian-owned battery that was most likely manned by a
Russian crew. Photos and video evidence, as well as interviews with
witnesses, prove that the battery was brought across the border from Russia
into Ukraine shortly before the shootdown.
In order to fulfill the second half of its mission the investigation team
will now have to collect facts that would provide the basis for a conviction
in court. Chief prosecutor Fred Westerbeke told local news outlets: "The
investigation is fully ongoing, with more than a hundred internationals
involved. We are looking at forensic evidence, phone tap analyses from the
time around the crash, witness accounts, and many different scenarios."
The head of the prosecuting team then explained that central questions that
the investigation is trying to answer are: first, who controlled the radar
that provided the Buk battery with targeting information; second, who
commanded the crew; and, lastly, who gave the order to fire? Radio and
mobile telephone intercepts that have been provided by the Ukrainian

Dutch broadcaster RTL says it has new evidence that the Malaysia Airlines
plane shot down over Ukraine last July was hit by a surface-to-air missile.
Forensic analysis of a metal fragment found at the crash site of flight MH17
by a journalist indicated it was from the warhead of a Russian-made Buk.
This would support the theory the plane was downed by pro-Russian rebels,
over whose territory the plane was flying.
All 298 people on board the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur were

Shards of Truth in MH17 Investigation
Piece by piece, the Dutch-led investigation into the downing of a 777 over
Ukraine last summer is focusing on a Russian-made ground-to-air missile.
GILZE RIJEN, The Netherlands — The investigators looking into the downing
of flight MH17 last July over Ukraine say it probably was hit by a Russian-
made “Buk missile.” They have not drawn any solid conclusions about who
fired it, and they are working to exclude the possibility it was shot out of
the air by a warplane, as some Russian media claimed.
As the investigators made clear when they opened up to a press visit, there
is now, or eventually will be, enough evidence to assign guilt.
A huge military hangar here houses the war-torn pieces of what once was a
Malaysia Airlines flight bound from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 298
people aboard. All of them were killed.
Inside the lonely dome in an empty military field, families of the victims
viewed the debris of the pulverized shell of the Boeing 777. A paper-thin
sheet of metal, draped like sculpted cloth, holds the remnants of windows
through which tourists once marveled at the landscape below. It seems
immensely fragile to be carrying all these lives. (Is this actually what we
travel in, so high above the ground?) For some family members this was the
last physical reminder of their loved ones.
“We are looking at forensic evidence, phone tap analyses from the time
around the crash, witness accounts and many different scenarios.”
“This part of the wing and the nose of the plane can be touched by
relatives of the victims,” said Sara Vernooij, spokesperson of the Dutch
Safety Board, which heads the investigation into the crash. “Around 500
relatives are expected to visit in the coming days.” Family can come to the
site until Saturday.
Many of the parts they will see bear the marks of flames. Some are
completely blackened. The shelter smells of burned plastic and kerosene. Big
heaps of smaller wreckage are visible in containers. As though echoing the
war zone where the tragedy occurred, the sound of military helicopters can
be heard in the background.

MH17 disaster: Appeal for Buk rocket witnesses
An international crime team investigating the downing of flight MH17 over
eastern Ukraine last July has produced a video urging witnesses who saw a
missile launcher to come forward.
Describing the Buk launcher as one of the main scenarios, the team says it
can provide witnesses with protection.
All 298 people on the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur were killed.
A preliminary Dutch report said the plane broke up after being penetrated by
"high-velocity objects".
However, the Dutch Safety Board did not specify the involvement of a Russian
-made Buk launcher and its final report will not be released until October.
The Ukrainian government and the West have accused the Russian authorities
of supplying the separatists with the Buk missile launcher, providing
witness statements and photographs.
But the Kremlin has argued that Ukrainian forces were responsible for the

MH17 INVESTIGATION LEADING TO TOP RUSSIAN OFFICIALS: REPORT

According to the Public Prosecutor, the Dutch investigation team that is
coordinating the investigation into the downing of flight MH17, will soon be
going to Russia to look for evidence, NOS reports.
On Monday the Public Prosecutor released a call for witnesses in eastern
Ukraine. This call included recordings of tapped telephone conversations.
The Public Prosecutor edited out names in these recordings, for the safety
of the people involved, but did state that the calls were between “
separatists”. The Ukrainian secret service SBOe already released one of
these recordings shortly after the disaster, and identified one of the
speakers as the former Russian soldier Sergej Nikolajevitsj Petrovski.
This specific conversation between Petrovski and some one called Boerjat is
about the transport of a BUK missile system. Justice has strong indications
that MH17 was shot down with a BUK. The conversation seems to indicate that
Petrovski played a key roll in both the transport of the missile system to
the front and the operation that brought the material back to Russia. | M*****G

The culprits who shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over Eastern
Ukraine last July, killing all 298 people on board, may never be brought to
justice — and that’s because they’re already dead, a recent radio report
has alleged.
Whoever was responsible for firing the missile that, according to most
Western intelligence agencies, brought down the packed Malaysia Airlines
Boeing 777-200 on July 17, has already been taken out of the picture,
assassinated by Russian agents, according to a Dutch investigative
journalist.
The packed commercial airliner was on a routine flight between Amsterdam and
Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down over Donetsk, Ukraine, an area of that
country controlled by pro-Russian separatist rebels. The devastating crash
was the second major disaster involving a Malaysia Airlines 777 in the first
seven months of 2014, following the still-mysterious disappearance of
Flight MH370.
Reports quickly emerged that the Flight MH17 had been shot down by rebels,
or perhaps even Russian troops, using a sophisticated “Buk” missile
launcher. Various cell phone and surveillance videos showed a Buk launcher
being transported by truck to an area near where the shootdown took place,
and spirited away not long after the disaster.
The Russian government claims that the plane was actually shot down by a
pilot in the Ukraine government air force. But United States, German and
Australian governments have all said that the plane was shot down from the
ground, from within the pro-Russian territory of eastern Ukraine.
Now, sources are reportedly telling the Dutch investigators, the Russian
regime of Vladimir Putin has ordered a massive cover-up, erasing any Russian
connection to the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 atrocity — even killing
anyone who might have been involved, under the philosophy of “dead men tell
no tales.”
At the very least, says Dutch journalist Robert Bas, speaking on the Dutch
government-run radio station NOS, the guilty parties may now ave vanished,
living under false identities, where they cannot be found.
“My sources believe that these people might have changed their identities
or even been executed by Russian secret service in order to hide everything,
” Bas said.
The Dutch investigators have attempted to track down anyone who might have
been involved with the shootdown, but have found any potential suspect “
untraceable.”
“So in the end there may be no trial, unfortunately, just the report on the
results of the investigation,” the reporter added.
The Dutch team that has been trying since last July to get to the bottom of
the Malaysia Airlines MH17 tragedy have found themselves the repeated target
of computer hackers, believed to be Russian, who in many cases have
rendered their computer systems useless with viruses and spyware.
