this.
I myself have experience it with AMEX and Citi as well. For example, while
not knowing there is a limit on 4 AMEX credit card per SSN, I applied my
fifth and get denied. Naturally I called for reconsider but was told,
firstly it is impossible with 4 existing ones. Secondly, no credit was
pulled due to the application. So I happily moved on. Basically I think the
banks does have some internal screening before they pull the applicants'
credit. This is understanding and appreciated.
