To improve your tone for cheap:

1. Relax your right hand. You can pick hard, but you still have to be
relaxed. A tense shoulder and upper arm are merely robbing your strings of
velocity.
2. Stop fretting so hard. You're just bending notes sharp.
3. Strum with your wrist, not the entire arm. Adjust your strumming angle so
that each string is getting strummed meaningfully and has a good sound.
Also, don't hit all six strings every time and learn how to right hand mute.
4. Use vibrato. Learn various types of vibrato and use them at different
speeds.
5. Slide/bend away from and into notes and chords, instead of lifting them
up abruptly all the time.
6. Use accents. Don't play everything the exact same velocity.
7. Learn to linger on a note. If you have to be a split second early or a
split second late to every note, it sounds much cooler to be late.
8. Take video of your own playing and analyze it for sound and for posture.
Do this whenever possible.
9. Don't just play. Listen.
10. Write your own songs and convince everyone that only your signal chain
will produce the sound that makes your songs work.
11. Try picking in different spots on the string. Where you hit the string
effects the tone immensely and varying it can add a lot of dynamics to your
playing.
12. Try attacking the string with different pick angles; again this will add
a lot of dynamics and change your tone a lot.
13. Try playing with your fingers or a combination of pick and fingers.
14. Use your tone and volume pots on the guitar. Instead of having
everything on 10 on your guitar when you dial in your tone, roll them both
back just a bit and then dial it in at the amp. This will give you a little
bit of uumph when you need it to cut.
15. Proper setup of your guitar...whether you take it somewhere or learn to
do it yourself it can make a world of difference in how it feels which
effects how you react to it. It's almost an organic feedback system.
also adjust pup and pole heights. This can drastically alter tone... Oh and
change your strings! | o********n 发帖数: 839 | 2 Thank you for sharing!
