that a high-ranking West Virginia
official has contacted Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen
about becoming the
Mountaineers' next head coach.
This comes just a day after Holgorsen was reported to be Pitt's top choice
for its vacancy. Now sources are
saying the Panthers are no longer interested and that WVU, which actually
does have a coach in Bill Stewart, is
considering a change.
Rumors are circulating that Stewart could be fired if the Mountaineers don't
win their bowl game, or that he
could even be let go with a win. Another scenario has Holgorsen coming on to
replace current offensive
coordinator Jeff Mullen, who is in the running for the Kent State job.
If that were to happen, sources say that Holgorsen would transition under
Stewart for one season. But that
reportedly would never happen because Stewart would resign before becoming a
lame duck. |
