EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State Spartans take on the Oregon Ducks for
MSU's home-opener Saturday night, but there appears to be a little
confusion over that.
The famous Sparty statue on campus was vandalized overnight with maize and
blue paint, said MSU Police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor, the colors of
the University of Michigan Wolverines.
The Ducks, by contrast sport green and yellow.
McGlothian-Taylor said the statue was vandalized about 2 a.m. Friday, and
there are no suspects.
"Normally this only happens when we have a U-M game," she said.
Sparty has since been cleaned up and is back to his usual bronze self. | m********t
