EAST LANSING — Michigan State paid Air Force $1.2 million to play at
Spartan Stadium last Saturday, the highest amount MSU has paid for a college
football opponent.
Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis shared the contract number on
Monday's "Spartan Beat" radio show on Lansing's 92.1 FM, The Team.
The Spartans (3-0) got their money's worth from the Falcons (2-1) beyond the
35-21 game and near-capacity crowd of 74,211 on what started out as a rainy
day in East Lansing.
The noon game was selected to be nationally televised by the ABC network,
elevating Michigan State's national image and exposure at a time when the
program is peaking under coach Mark Dantonio.
The Spartans' current No. 2 rank is the program's highest in the AP Top 25
poll since 1966.
Hollis explained the Air Force contract is in line with the cost to bring in
a competitive non-conference opponent without having to give up a home game.
"We paid what is kind of becoming the norm, a $1.2 million payout, which is
the highest we have currently committed to," Hollis said. "It's a big
number, but it's on par with what the Boise State game was.
"It covers the expenses for them traveling and giving up a home game,
because it was a one-time game, there's no return game to Colorado Springs."
Hollis was able to get the game through the relationships he built while
working in the WAC as an assistant commissioner prior to returning to
Michigan State and rising up through the administrative ranks to become an
award-winning athletic director.

Hollis is the 2015 recipient of the John L. Toner award, presented annually
by the National Football Foundation to "outstanding athletics directors who
have demonstrated superior administrative abilities especially in the area
of college football."
Michigan State hosts Central Michigan (1-2) at noon this Saturday at Spartan
Stadium.
All four of Michigan State's non-conference games this season — Western
Michigan, Oregon, Air Force and Central Michigan — were against teams that
played in bowl games last season. |

一大笔，不过是私校，所以可以不公布。。。
一般不是home-home的，都得给钱吧，不过谁家贵谁家便宜就不好说了
感觉Air Force不缺钱，这个1.2M肯定是高的
