As suggested by a few friends here, it would be really useful to compile a
list of interesting neuroscience questions rather than arguing which one is
the most important. We can then elaborate on each specific problem, perhaps
once a week, so that people from different backgrounds could benefit from
the discussion.
Like others, I feel Terry's book entitled 23 questions in systems
neuroscience is a good starting point (of course, we can add more to the
list). To start, I am quite interested in the first question in the book,
that is "Shall we even understand the Fly's brain?" posed by Gilles Laurant.
Phrasing it in a different way, I would like to ask: by studying simple
model systems, such as Drosophila or C.elegans, can we uncover general
system neuroscience principles that is applicable to mammalian brains? If we
can, what are the potential interesting problems one should pursue? If not,
what are the limitations in these systems?

great idea! support

First generation is useless as brightness/resolution not enough.
But they are working on second generation now.
