发帖数: 407 | 3 I got no experience on your situation, but just want to mention 2 things.
1. Medicaid Income limit is different for pregnant women. Make sure you
check the correct numbers for yourself.
(But I got no idea if a J VISA student is allowed to apply Medicaid.)
2. Many private health insurance will have a "Wait-Period" for pregnant
coverage that if you become pregnant before this "wait period" ends, the
medical cost will not be covered. Well... They aren't charity. The amount
you paid is likely to be more than your medicial cost of pregnant in a
normal situation, but may give you some benefit if there is some
complications. |

发帖数: 407 | 6 I am not an insurance professional, so I have no idea with it. I only know
Health Insurance is very expensive in US because I am searching something
before I apply my parent to US, and I was reading the details of the
coverage.
If you don't want to spend $20k to $40k for having a baby, wait until your
husband to get a full time job with company insurance.
Most cheap insurance seems to either having a very large co-insurance (like
50%) or having very small coverage like 2500 to 5000. I remember my younger
son was charged like 30k to the insurance. The better coverage one will cost
like 1k per month.
Also, I remember the new born was only covered up to several days after
birth.
Just remember to find out all details before taking action, and hope you to
have a healthy baby. :)
