。我爸妈绿卡来美两年，本来想给他们办Medicaid, 结果电话打过去人家说要呆满五年
才有资格申请。另外关于社会安全SSI福利，就是一个月领几百块那种，这只能入籍美

发帖数: 3032 | 2 是的，新泽西要呆满5年。他们可以搬到纽约，那里不需要呆5年。他们没有在美国工作交
税满40个点的话是拿不到SSI的。前一阵子纽约版有个类似的贴子，你去翻翻，有人说
超过多少年龄还是居住多久也能拿，我记不清了。

发帖数: 3032 | 5 更正一下，要40个税点的是Social Security Benefit, 数目和你多年交的税有关。配
偶是绿卡或公民的话还可以拿一半的钱。还有一种是SSI，是给65岁以上，blind/or
disabled 或者低收入，符合某些条件的小孩好像也可以拿。不清楚是不是要入籍。

发帖数: 3032 | 9 我觉得第一段是针对非老人的，超过65的老人就不需要40个点了。探亲老人应该绿卡就
可以了，不需要公民，但肯定还要符合一些条件，收入啊，身体状况啊，等等。到底行
不行，最好还是自己打电话去问。SSA网站上有个10分钟的screen test,可以查查是不
是符合条件。

不符合Medicaid 条件)，如果万一得个大病，工薪阶层的子女是付不起那个昂贵的医药
费的。SSI的存在就是给这些老人用的，只要符合条件，为什么不申请？
我是觉得对于SSI，除了65岁年龄，收入，绿卡，可能还要有证明残障/盲人才拿得到，
所以LZ的父母并不一定符合条件。我们就等LZ的update 吧。
话说到medicaid,你知道有两个美国人住在百万豪宅，还照样领救济吗？因为住所是不
包括在计算收入的条件里的。只要收入，存款符合，他们就照领救济。同样纽约唐人街
好多华人把财产转移，尽管有房产，但没存款，低收入，照样符合条件领救济。是这个
制度不合理啊！

harder than Medicaid.
2. Medicaid - Not sure. I don't think so either. I will be NICE if the
Medicaid only needs 5 year PR without requiring the 40 hours working credits
.
3. Without 40 credits, I think the person cannot quality for anything even
over 65 US citizen... (Hopefully, this is not truth. But I think US is CHEAP
...
Entered US before 1996 is a different story. The law changed in 1996. |

约见官问了些简单问题，例如婚姻状况，存款，工作，身体情况，边问边在电脑里输入
，最后说明是帮忙递了申请表。她说最后结果会在一周左右时间寄到家里，但根据我妈
妈的情况，应该是denial.
所以确切答案是：在1996年后来的绿卡持有者，如果不入籍是没有资格申请SSI的。如
果是公民，肯定有资格，有没有40points无所谓。
Medicaid申请必须要持绿卡五年后年满65岁才有资格申请，无需公民身份。

There is a Affinity Health Plan office between 52/53 st. I went to ask them
if new Green Card can apply Medicaid and join them. The lady said it is okay
. I am not sure if it is real or not, but you may want to ask ask... haha...
I am interested to know if she is just saying so or it is real too. I plan
to apply my parent to US, but worrying about how to get Insurance too. The
medical cost is crazy in US.
