起因是本人在做Right Turn的时候转的时机太晚，导致车辆没有进入右道，而开进了右
道与直行道中间的草坪上，草坪与路之间被大概10cm高的砖围起来，我感觉我的后轮是
磕在了上面导致了Flat。对车的其他damage还包括了，车体外部的轻度损伤（虽然没有
撞到东西），以及一片塑料外壳元件的脱落（不知道从哪掉出来的）
车是公司给从Enterprise给租的Nissan Sentra，本人是在NJ持J1签证的实习生。
出事的客观原因一个是草坪上的积雪反光导致没太看清楚路，还有就是当天患感冒，反
应力不如平时，其实本人已经在NJ安全驾驶六个月，从未出过事。
警察来后除了拖走车后还给我开了三张罚单，并要求我周三必须出庭。分别是Careless
Driving， Failure to maintain the lane和Unlicensed， 关于Unlicensed的话，之
前发邮件问了NJ MVC，他们的说法是外国驾照可以在NJ用最多一年，但是必须有
Verify的英文翻译件，但是我还没有。
马上就要上庭感觉很忐忑，求过来人的经验。还有需不需要找律师咨询一下呢？求大家

UNLICENSED DRIVER
Unlicense Driver under N.J.S. 39:3-10(b): If neither New Jersey nor any
other state ever issued you a valid drivers license and you have been
apprehended operating a motor vehicle anyway, your exposure is as follows:
First Offense:
$500.00 fine plus $33.00 court costs, plus six (6) month prohibition on
driving in the State of New Jersey, plus six (6) months ineligibility to
apply for/obtain a valid New Jersey drivers license.
SECOND OR SUBSEQUENT OFFENSE--
MANDATORY JAIL TIME

Jersey law (MVC)
requires that you surrender your out-of-state license and obtain a New

如果有的话，应该能算数，就像护照一样。

这是我咨询NJ MVC得到的答复：
Thank you for your recent MVC inquiry. A person who is temporarily living
in New Jersey for less than one year, who intends to return to his or her
country of domicile, is not required to obtain a New Jersey driver license
and registration. The driver may operate a vehicle in New Jersey using his
or her valid foreign driver license with an International Driving Permit (
IDP) for up to one year. Foreign motorists are advised to carry an IDP
which serves as a translation to be used in conjunction with their valid
foreign driver license.
然后我问她没有IDP怎么办，她又说：
The IDP is the translation of your license. You will need a translation of
your license (if it is not in English) and also carry your passport.
我又问去哪翻译呢，她说：

感觉美国法律各种自相矛盾啊，不知道到时候法官会不会认NJ MVC说的呢？

问题在于MVC说的那个International Driver Permit是国际驾驶联盟的驾照，中国不
是国际驾驶联盟成员国，所以中国驾照不算的。

certificate，hope it works：）

发帖数: 22 | 13 主要是怕后面说的六个月不能驾驶不能申请新驾照，网上查了下说有貌似有律师办过类
似的case，只要出示了中国的驾照，一般都能dismiss掉，最糟糕的也是按驾照过期算。
我后来跟MVC说我没有IDP，MVC就给了我Translator的链接。刚刚跑去一个translator
那办好翻译件了，只不过翻译件上写有今天的日期，而且美国这种三权分立，MVC是行
政，Court是司法，要是MVC的说法被法官无视就糟了。不知道E-mail的内容是否能作为
有效的法律依据。
