我亲戚去年刚加的类似情况，不过卧室浴室和closet很大，应该加出去差不多1000尺，
十几万，同时还把屋顶和外墙都换了，屋里还做了其他装修。
建议千万别找老中干，我邻居和亲戚的血泪史一把把的。
我亲戚还被骗了5000刀，说是申请permit的钱，拿着人就跑了，再也联系不到人了，留
的地址执照和驾照都是假的。
后来用的那个，活是做了，但中间吵架几百次，打得头破血流的，现在还有无数的尾巴

不要把华人装修师傅全部妖魔化，我只能认同说某些华人师傅的道德品质败坏。但是同
样老外的装修师傅也有道德败坏的呀。我一个朋友的亲生经历。这哥们在hoboken买了
一个50万的房子，全部的墙拆掉重修装修。
我给他介绍我用过的华人装修师傅，也去他家看过了，报过价，最后他还是觉得用老外
比较好，比较放心，因为这样大的装修是需要PERMIT和 SIGN OFF， 据得老外比华人靠
谱。
好吧，找了一个什么license 都有的老外，general contractor license,handy man
license.从1月底开工，做了没几下就不来人，一周大概来个一天，把我朋友吊在那里
，你换人也不是，不换也不是。时间一晃到了6月，我朋友忍无可忍，把他炒掉。于是
，更坑爹的事情来了。这哥们竟然去town hall 告发我朋友，说他家的房子是full
renovation， 他不应该住在里面。然后某天晚上，我朋友被town hall 的人赶了出来
，一家6口去住hotel。
最后我这朋友家的房子搞到10月才全部完成，花了25万装修，搞了快一年。问题是他家
一共才1600尺呀。 | s*********9

还有自己住的好好的房子怎么会被人赶出去住酒店？装修过程中town里的人难道从来不
去吗？我亲戚家加盖过程中，任何水电气动一下town里都要来一下检查之后才能做下一
步的，难道他们不知道人能不能住在房子里吗？
的确挺让人费解的啊。
并不是要妖魔化华人师傅，华人师傅如果有好的，我个人绝对倾向于照顾自己人生意的
，可是血泪史都是钱堆出来的啊，我家买的老房子前后做了三次不小的项目了，前两次
都是中国人，留了无数的尾巴，好不容易这次终于请老美controctor给修好了。说个具
体例子：原来装修的厨房抽油烟机管道居然没有连接，只是放在那里，打开柜子也看不
出来没连接，这次换抽油烟机才发现，气死我了，过去几年屋里油烟那么大，我一直怪
抽油烟机不给力，这次坚决换掉抽烟机，才发现根本就没连接上管道，还有无数的各种
情况我都懒得一一说了，好多原来做的花的钱不仅白花了，我还得搭钱请人拆了重做，
费时费力费钱。

I've used 4 Chinese contractors. one of them was terrible terrible terrible.
three were okay but not good, including a bigger renovation company (with 10+
guys). All the 华人师傅 from these four companies had little ideas about
building code. Before each inspection, I needed to spend at least 2 hours
pre-inspect their work, asking them to fix, and oftentimes spent
another few hours to fix the mess they left... That, as well, included the
华人师傅s from the bigger renovation company.
All Chinese companies were relatively cheaper. the terrible terrible
terrible one wasnt cheaper than the rest. But they were not the cheapest.
The cheapest were companies run by latino...
I've used 4 latino companies. all were okay, not good. one of them were
best
among the aforementioned 8 companies.
I've used 2 european contractors: one electrician and the other plumber.
both were
okay to good.
I've used 5 american companies. two were quite good. two were passable (
similar to those latino companies). one was extremely bad, the worst of all
contractors I've hired... American companies were the most expensive. but
they did know building codes well so it's relatively easier for homeowners.

I've used 4 Chinese contractors. one of them was terrible terrible terrible.
three were okay but not good, including a bigger renovation company (with 10+
guys). All the 华人师傅 from these four companies had little ideas about
building code. Before each inspection, I needed to spend at least 2 hours
pre-inspect their work, asking them to fix, and oftentimes spent
another few hours to fix the mess they left... That, as well, included the
华人师傅s from the bigger renovation company.
All Chinese companies were relatively cheaper. the terrible terrible
terrible one wasnt cheaper than the rest. But they were not the cheapest.
The cheapest were companies run by latino...

为怕花钱找气受。还好最近这次找的老美，best experience ever，完全不需要
操心，我们所做的就是签合同和给钱。

发帖数: 442 | 13 我扩建也是找的美国人，一个是因为找邻居推荐，几家邻居用过的都是美国人；另一个
是确实不太信任中国人，不熟code是一方面，中国人不踏实爱cut corner是另一方面。
反正找contractor嘛，最要紧是有人用过还推荐的，你亲自看过他做的活儿觉得满意。
然后就是多面试几个，把proposal放在一起比较，用靠谱实在的那个。
