Yes, we’re going to be a part of it – New York, New York – in tomorrow’s
Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium.
The Irish have been a part of the most historic college football games ever
played in and around the Big Apple:
100 years ago in 1913, up the Hudson River in West Point, Notre Dame
captured the imagination of fans nationwide with the excitement of the
forward pass.
In 1928, at the old Yankee Stadium, the Irish rallied to a victory after
Knute Rockne delivered his famous halftime speech asking his team to “Win
just one for the Gipper.”
Notre Dame and Army played to a 0-0 tie in the first “Game of the
Century” held in the old Yankee Stadium after World War II in 1946.
And in 2010, the Irish played (and won) the first football game ever in
the new Yankee Stadium.
We are all proud to be part of a University so rich with remarkable moments
in history, both on and off the football field. |
