Doesn't anyone else feel this sounds very awkward? |

wouldn't make this sorta mistakes...

mean it's can be published on the NY Times?

a*o 发帖数: 25262 | 9 you need to provide more about the context instead just giving a sentence...
what's before me not hungry and after...
that

grammatically correctly.

a*o 发帖数: 25262 | 13 Let's analyze the sentence: Who does what for what?
Who: The State Education Department
Does: sent
What: a memorandum
for what: (what's in there): recommending that (in memorandum) they (who are
they: school districts) not ask for information that might reveal the
immigration......blah blah....
If there is no "they"... it would be ambiguous, you might ask who's that?
memorandum? or school districts?.. |
y*e 发帖数: 9799 | 14 come on, nobody is questioning ambiguity
let it boil down to this:
I sent a letter to Frank, asking that he not demand for information that...
I sent a letter to Frank, asking him not to demand for information that...
I sent a letter to Frank, asking that he does not demand for information
that...
all of the above are clear (and not ambitious), but are they all
grammatically correct?
are

a*o 发帖数: 25262 | 15 Disagree...
recommend someone to do something..
"recommending" is a noun, not necessary follow by "to"..
【在 y*e 的大作中提到】 : err................. : recommending not TO ask
|
y*e 发帖数: 9799 | 16 Why on earth am I wasting time to have a serious discussion with someone who
writes "not necessary follow by"

a*o 发帖数: 25262 | 17 haha... the other way around... good catch...
"to" does not follow by ....OR "recommending is not followed by".... both
are OK...we are talking about some serious grammars here... that's why
proofreading is very important...LOL......
