我搬家之前住在一个著名犹太人社区，这里的学校和幼儿园很多犹太人自己办的。我老
公还专门去打听能不能让我儿子去犹太人的幼儿园，人家不同意。
那个学校外表很一般，前面有个很大的公园，活动的时候可以看见很多孩子，男孩很多
头上戴着巴掌大的一个小帽，踢球活动，那个帽子也不掉下来。犹太妇女比较传统，生
很多孩子，也似乎无怨无悔的， 很多女人戴头巾，穿长裙，这些在辛德勒的名单里都
可以看到的装束。
这里还有不少黑帽犹太人，装束就更加奇怪了，像我想象的巫师，一家人走来，真有点
吓人，全部都是黑衣服，男人黑大衣，戴黑色高帽子，耳朵两边有两缕头发，很长，挂
在耳边，不是辫子，但由于卷曲，也像辫子一样。女的也都黑衣，包括很小的女孩。还
有些男人，一边看孩子，一边读书，摇头晃脑地，也挺吓人的。
遇到过一个意大利人，毫不掩饰地歧视犹太人。我在一家犹太人的pizza店外带孩子吃pizza， 意大利人跟我聊天，我问他这家pizza店是不是意大利人的，他说不是，是犹太人的，于是打开话匣子，开始嘲笑犹太人做礼拜的样子，他给我比划着，把双手张开，大拇指放在耳朵后面----样子是比较滑稽。他还说，犹太人成天礼拜，就是祈祷上帝给他们钱。他们的人生里只有两件事，一个是生孩子，再一个就是挣钱。我当时听了顿时对犹太人的好感进一步增加，但这个意大利人却很是鄙视。
后来搬家后，building里面有个犹太女人，在圣诞节前，building里面都布置得过圣诞的时候，她在大厅里放了一个灯，一共9盏小灯，其实就是代表9根蜡烛，一天灭一盏，直到灭完。她给我解释了半天，这个是犹太人的一个节日，几年犹太人一场著名的战役，类似白人的圣诞节，因为时间差不多。
总之，这是一个奇特的民族，但让人肃然起敬，很多价值观和中国人相近。 |

Satmar. Most of them are in retails, owning their own shops like B&H,
because they don;t think different sexes can work together, making
impossible for them to hold regular jobs. and since the kids are not allowed
to go to college, they can't go into professional services like medical and
law...
most of them are pretty poor, mostly rely on incomes working in retails
shops.. almost all families are on welfare because they have a lot of kids
and they don't normally marry according to civil laws, only the hasidic laws
. hence, in the eyes of common law, all hasidic women are single mothers
with a lot of kids to support. they collect a lot of food stamps, medicaid,
public housing, and etc.. none pay much tax, if at all..

most of them are poor.. besides these retail shops and their wealthy owners,
most of them are indeed poor. Their population in NY is about 120K, how
many of them own B&H, Tristate, or are diamond dealers? I would say a
handful, the rest work in these shops and collect a salary. due to the lack
of formal education, big family, and women are not allowed to work, most of
them really do need public assitence.

这事情要一视同仁
人家黑大妈生了一堆是被管操不管养的男人欺负，确实需要帮助
如果让他们按照真实情况报双亲多子家庭，恐怕很多福利是拿不到的，这个不是钻空子
是嘛

来的孩子直接就是入犹太教了。我以前接触过很多犹太人同学，都没有那么的
religious，不穿黑帽，不做礼拜。
BROOKLYN这里确实是啊，有一块都是这种黑帽犹太人，每次我都忍不住多看两眼，装扮
太怪了 |

一年四季都黑帽黑衣的是最保守的，很多都只头上盖盖，或只是星期 5,6 头上盖盖。星期五日落前就要回到家祈祷。中城的那些珠宝店，摄影店给他们垄断了也就都早关门，星期六不开。在家礼拜时关于电器的什么事情也不能做，包括听电话。。
