根據交通替代組織（Transportation Alternatives）提供的數據，目前乘客支付費用
已占MTA運營成本的四成，這個比率為全美最高，而紐約民眾明年將再度面臨捷運卡和
過橋費漲價，但大都會運輸署(MTA)可不是將漲價的收入用於維護或改善紐約民眾的出
行待遇，而是為了補貼員工的退休金和醫療補助。
在市議會交通委員會6日舉行的公聽會上，市議員們和多個乘客維權機構都表達了反對
MTA漲價的強烈呼聲，指這樣頻繁的漲價實在令人「忍無可忍」。
根據MTA的計畫，從明年1月1日起，捷運卡漲價7.5%，這樣MTA在2013年會增加4億6300
萬元收入，在2014年又增加4億8600萬元收入。現在30天無限次捷運卡為104元，如果漲
價，將變成112元。從2015年1月1日起，捷運卡將再漲價7.5%，30天無限次捷運卡變成
120元，該年MTA將因此多收入5億900萬元。因為有漲價的收入，加上減少多項行政開支
，MTA可以拿出一個平衡的預算並略有盈餘。
交通委員會主席瓦卡問MTA代表是否有辦法避免漲價？MTA代表斬釘截鐵地表示，「這就
是計畫，MTA董事會已經通過了」。據了解，MTA在2013年和2014年漲價所得共9億4900
萬元，基本上只能支付MTA在這兩年內的退休金支出和退休人士的醫療補助，無法把漲
價所得的經費用來維修地鐵或更新公車。
另外，MTA管轄的橋樑隧道也將漲過橋費，這一點引起眾多市議員的抗議。瓦卡表示，
從布朗士到皇后區光過橋費就要七元，從紐約市的一個區到另一個區要這樣多錢，實在
「太過份」。史泰登島市議員Deborah Rose表示，經維拉札諾大橋(Verrazano Bridge)
到曼哈坦的過橋費現金要13元，E-ZPass要9.60元，再漲下去簡直是「莫名其妙」了。
交通替代組織（Transportation Alternatives）正在收集連署簽名，反對MTA漲價，因
為「這是把運營壓力單方面加在乘客身上」，連署網址http://www.transalt.org/takeaction/actioncenter/5750。根據該組織提供的數據，紐約市和州府從1990年開始就沒有增加給MTA的撥款，而乘客支付費用已占MTA運營成本的四成，如果MTA在2013年和2015年都漲價，那乘客支付費用將占MTA運營成本的66%。 | m*******y

reps, work like 10 hrs a week, and earn like 200K or 400K.
yesterday, i read it that a mob releated dude, who's a long shoreman union
rep, never really goes to work, the only responsibility he has is to look
after the timesheet of all the long shoreman, and he earns 400K...
and let's not started on the fucking union pensions!

MTA price is much much much cheaper than any reasonable alternative.
If you are GOP and run MTA as a private company, you will RAISE the MTA
price AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE, little less or equal to next alternative! Most
likely double the current MTA price!
Wake up, brother. Wake up! You should know how GOP people price their
products before pointing finger to government/工会.
