来自3个渠道的消息人士都证实，彭博曾经打电话邀请希拉里明年参选纽约市
长。基于后者在跨国事务中的管理能力，彭博认为她是这一职位的绝佳人选。即将卸任
国务卿的希拉里已经答复彭博，称无意竞选这一美差。这一传言在纽约民主党政圈内引
发诸多猜测，而先前多次被彭博背书的“自己人”、大热门候选者柯魁英自称对此事“
不知情”。
长期以来，市长彭博都把自己的继任者定位成一个集明星气质、练达、坚韧于
一体的魅力人士。据悉，他最新的“猎物”竟然是国务卿希拉里。
据《纽约时报》报道，从希拉里的角度来看，尽管彭博对公众人物经常不吝批
评，但他的确又期待有一位擅长全球穿梭灭火的明星角色来接替自己。
这一通数月之前的电话，至今仍云山雾罩。但彭博与前第一夫人的这一插曲，
凸显了他对当前候选人的政治焦虑。即将退出权力竞技场的彭博，正急于寻觅一位呼风
唤雨的继任者，以打造自己的“造王”式影响力。
消息人士称，希拉里在通话中给彭博留下了一点余地，她只是对参选市长兴趣
不大。
尽管如此，彭博接触希拉里的举动，仍然引发了政治诡计的猜测。他先前曾经
背书市议长柯魁英，后者在他的第三任市长任期内为其扫除了若干条款的立法障碍。于
是，彭博的政治形象早已与柯魁英捆绑在一起，而后者也展现了她协助彭博管理纽约市
的领导力。
尽管彭博重申了对于柯魁英的支持，但力邀希拉里参选一事的曝光，显示他仍
然举棋未定。
彭博在上次选战中的重要幕僚希考普夫（Hank Sheinkopf）表示：“他在寻觅
一位合适的交棒人，让自己感觉舒服。”
彭博和希拉里的发言人都对这一传言拒绝评论。根据游戏规则，双方均不宜泄
露私人谈话的内容。
3日，柯魁英闻悉此事后惊讶不已：“真的！？”，她在电梯门关闭前的一瞬
间反问道，“我闻所未闻。”
熟悉彭博的人士认为，彭博与希拉里通电话本属随意之举，但却对双方的未来
都产生深刻影响。
早在10年前，两人之间的密切互动就被纽约政圈人士所熟知。希拉里担任纽约
州联邦参议员的时间，与彭博的市长任期存在长达7年的交集。在此期间，双方针对纽
约州和联邦政策频繁发声。
圈内人士又称，彭博对希拉里充满由衷的钦佩，赞赏她作为国务卿与大选时的
对手奥巴马精诚合作的雅量，更认可她的外交天才。
希拉里目前并不住在纽约。而这是参选市长的先决条件之一。但这对她是小菜
一碟。2000年时，为了能符合参选纽约州国会参议员的标准，她和老公曾在上州的
Chappaqua购置房产。
纽约民主党人士普遍表示，希拉里参选纽约市长的消息难以置信，无论她是否
有意在将来再次竞逐白宫大位。

Isn't Liu also a donkey? I can only vote for the winner during the general
election. Can't and won't be able to support either one during the primary.
