A gorgeous teenage artist and NYU student was found dead on Tuesday from an
apparent suicide inside a room at the swanky Bryant Park Hotel, sources told
The Post.
Rowen Altenburger, 18, of Short Hills, New Jersey, was discovered about 12:
45 p.m. after her mother called the luxury hotel at on West 40th Street near
Sixth Avenue to say her daughter was supposed to have checked out Monday —
but that she hadn’t heard from her, sources said.
The teen was found with a plastic bag over her head, sources said, and left
a suicide note explaining she suffered from depression.
“It can be easy to lose yourself. Not to mention lots of time,”
Altenburger wrote on her website, Rowenbrea.com, which features images of
her abstract acrylic paintings.
Altenburger also posted images of morbid paintings — dubbed “Live fast and
Die Young” and “I’m not Real” — on the art-sharing website Cosmofunnel
.com.
One of her paintings features an image of a skeleton. Another other shows a
female’s face in covered in what appears to be blood.
On Tuesday, a police vehicle pulled up to the hotel and detectives escorted
three people, an older woman, a younger woman and a man from the hotel into
the squad car at around 2:40 p.m.
They tearfully declined comment.
Calls to friends were not returned immediately on Tuesday.
EMTs and cops at the Midtown hotel, where rooms go from about $265 to $365 a
night, also declined comment. | g*******a
