Tue, Nov 6, 2012 (BabyCenter News) -- Britax Child Safety has announced a
recall of about 60,000 car seats.
The recalled car seats include the Boulevard 70-G3, Advocate 70-G3, and
Pavilion 70-G3. The convertible car seats have a soft chest pad, called the
HUGS pad, that can be bitten off and chewed into pieces by children, posing
a choking hazard. Replacement pads, available for free to parents who
purchased the recalled car seats, are made from a firmer material. Britax
has received three reports of children biting off and gagging on parts of
the pad, but no reports of more serious injuries.
The Britax car seats included in this recall were manufactured from June
2012 through August 2012. The recalled model numbers are E9LJ91A, E9LJ91M,
E9LJ91S, E9LJ92E, E9LJ93P, E9LJ93S, E9LK91A, E9LK31A, E9LK31Q, E9LK32D,
E9LK32Z, E9LK33Q, E9LL11A, E9LL11Q, E9LL12D, E9LL12Z, E9LG81A, E9LG83N,
E9LG83P, E9LG83X, E9LG83Y, E9LL21A, E9LL23P, and E9LL23Y.
A white label with the car seat's serial number, manufacture date, and batch
number can be found near the headrest of the car seat.
These car seats were sold at mass and independent retailers nationwide and
on the Britax website for about $350.
