I wish someone could grace me with her knowledge.
I practiced medicine in China for a while. Three years ago I moved to States.
I just passed all the USMLE steps of Medicine Board. I am applying for the
residency matching this year. It is very stressful process and I am not sure
I can make it or not. I only have few interviews but I won’t know matching
results until next March. Now I am thinking about backup plan.

When I was interviewed in a hospital, the program director told me that he
only have 6 positions available this year but there are 1400 applicants.
Most International Medical Graduates do not have American clinical
experience. How to get this sort of experience? It is almost impossible for
IMGs because all the clinical related works in States require license and
insurance. In his program, there are 4 residents are RN-to-MD philipinos. He
said he gives those philipinos prefe |

background. It's true that you'd better have american hospital experience to
get matched. I bet you are still young, so use the nursing program as your
stepstone. I know here in Michigan the programs are quite good. And there
are many good programs in Ohio too. Check them out. |

Medicine Board that is very difficult to most of people who graduated in
China as a MD.You are great for you passed them. From these experiences, I
see you have been studying very hard, so I assume you can arrive to your
goal. The choice is whatever, you will be successful. But in my mind, I
prefer to agree with other friends' opinions that you don't have to waste
your time, you should improve your every skill about MD in USA

Those RNs still have to go to medical shool and do their internship, right?
The internship matters, in my thinking.
I'm curious that how much PDs value the nursing experiences during match. Do
they value nursing experience more than observantship?

发帖数: 97 | 10 I will tell you guys what is rn-to-md. my philipino friend told me that many
philipino RN went back to philipine md school after practcing several years
of RN in USA. So when they graduate, it is easier to get matched. I think
nursing is a really good stepstone if you are a foreign med graduate. you
can go CRNA program, and get paid at $80-90/hr, better than many doctors. |

nursing do have tons of shit paperwork, like 10 pages long nursing care plan
after each clinic, patient communication form, teaching project, research
paper,creative project, community presentation, reflexive journal, self
evaluation, and other tons of shit stuff for each class which basically are
no help except making people tired of nursing school.

发帖数: 6 | 18 If you have not taken USMLE steps yet, I would agree that it is very helpful
to have nursing experience. However, after all steps and one match
experience, you better try to find real USCE as a physician. It is a long
way around to try nursing program.
We have some applicants in medcareer bbs failed match last year. They got
tons of IVs this year. |
