一旦确定报名和取消(可以中途退出报名)原则后, 即开始接受报名.
这又是全球华人里近年来少有规格的漂流大活动, 有很多功课要做, 与2010的CO大漂
流不一样的是, 一旦确定报名后, 每人即参加准备工作,如果退出报名, 没有PENALTY,

Winnie. Sandy beach makes a great spot for riverside stops. The rapid holds
a huge boulder, splitting the river in half.

三个CANYON都在一个大区,我们目标是保一争二, LODORE是里面的NO 1(风景角度),
YAMPA是风景第二, 白水第一, DESOLUTION是 NO 3.
三个CANYON不可能一次解决掉.
这次CANYON的RUN是大峡谷漂流的前哨站, 很多类似的地方.

dry bag，blahblah
回忆一点我们教练讲的漂流安全注意事项供大家参考：
1。不管有多浅，落水后千万不要试图站起来。这是俺们教练第一强调的，也是最容易
忽略的。原因是第一内陆河深浅不一，看起来浅，其实前面就一个大坑；第二，河底很
滑；第三，最常见也最危险的是很多尖锐的岩石，或者脚一旦被石窝卡住，水流一冲站
立不稳，轻则划伤，重则骨折。
2。落水后不要试图游泳，因为水下会有很危险的岩石，轻了会把膝盖划伤，重了会撞
到胸口，据说有人连肚皮都划破过。其实穿着救生衣多半也游不动，这点在学帆船时也
深有体会。
3。落水后正确漂流姿势是面朝天，腿脚指向下游，膝盖微屈，两臂半曲保持平衡。基
本上是半躺半坐在水面上。这样的好处是，随时可以看到下游的岩石，然后用脚推开，
或者顶多磕到屁股，而不至于伤到内脏和头部。
4。队友救援的正确方式是，把船靠近，尽量用船头和船尾靠近。被救的千万不要试图
爬上船，而是尽量能从正面报住船头，然后由队友把船划到岸边停好。关键是别一时着
急把队友也拉下水

我跟MOLLE说好, 明年(7月中)咱们活动第一个周末就上阿肯色, 还有GUNNISON GORGE,
都是经典精彩的III+(TOP 10 in US), 出大事可能性很小,从我得到的信息是比GAULEY
更精彩. 河的精彩不一定和难度成正比, 虽然是难度是一个因素.
还有两条河再规划中:COLORADO R(GLENWOOD SPRINGS), RIO GRANDE, 这四条可称的上
是全球最知名漂流二三十条的四条.
全是相当TECHNIQUE的III+ which could make everyone very high.
我们COLORADO的漂流从FRESHMAN走向sophomore.

Colorado好玩，就Arkansa吧。七月正好，commercial已经漂了两个多月了，该清的石
头树枝什么的都清掉了，剩下的都是clean rapids。想找找刺激，玩玩落水什么的容易
，要想出事还真挺不容易的。
另外，七月也是summer hiking season。Salida （Arkensa river主要集散地)以北30
mile以内有至少10个14er.漂烦了还可以去爬爬山调剂一下，多美。
Gunnison Gorage绝对是个 fun trip。曾经路过，当时就幻想要是能漂上一两天，在
Gorage里camp一晚上，该是多么的。。。wild啊!
各路神仙都来吧，想想明年夏天又可以和老大还有神仙们一起混，开心啊！

去了. 不贴的原因推广作用不大. 而且言多必有失.
所以上面的话是给出总结,算是年度交代, 和WATERWALKER的集团算是海外户外集体中目
前已知唯二的俩个稳定发展有抱负和有一定规模的户外团体. 和我以前表述的一样, 漂
流是经典户外里可能NO 1的集体活动, 有很多集体活动的麻烦事和安全负担, 就象任何
事的俩面性, 有付出就有收获.
可以用AMAZING这个词来概括我们今年在西部的漂流, 风景在河中是不一般的美, 东西
部大侠的合作非常愉快.
从我保守的个性来讲, 2010的漂流肯定不是最精彩的一年, 好戏才开始.

咂舌谁会有钱没处花住在这么个深山小镇，真正是in the middle of nowhere，冬天大
雪一封山，就彻底与世隔绝了。
不过听说美国很多celebrity都喜欢找这么个与世隔绝的地方呆着，据说Tom Cruise就
在Telluride（另一不远处小镇）买了度假房。不过我不是他的粉丝，就不用爬山涉水
去朝圣啦。

发帖数: 991 | 32 关键是它离雪场也不近啊。。。直线距离向北离Aspen不远，但是去Aspen必经
Independece Pass，此pass十月中就关了。记得有一年十月初去Aspen看黄叶(刚来时很
tourist），经过Idependence Pass，开的一辆jeep，半山腰开始都是雪，在山顶车轮
打滑，吓得半死。回来改道走70，多花了一倍时间，但至少不用心惊胆战。70上众多滑
雪胜地房价也没这么吓人。
Anyway,富人们的好恶咱也理解不了。Crested Butte又不收门票，看看野花，走走
trail什么的就很开心啦。

Class III-III+
13.5 Miles
The Gunnison Gorge run is beautiful. Consists mostly of class III pool drop
style whitewater. Plenty of play so consider bringing your playboat. The
most notable rapid is Narrow Rapid, here the river constricts into canyon.
Be prepared for the Chukar Trail hike into the put-in, approximately 1 mile.

Located just down stream of the put in, Chukar is a single drop class III.
Most choose to run center at higher water and the right slot at lower flows.
There is a nice tongue left of center at flows around 750 cfs. After Chukar

The Gunnison Gorge Wilderness is about 17,784 acres along the Gunnison River
inside the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area, about 9 miles
northeast of Montrose (but a couple hours drive over some great dirt roads).
The Wilderness begins at the northwestern boundary of Black Canyon of the
Gunnison National Park and runs north through the double canyon (a unique
system of black granite cut with layers of red sandstone) of the Gunnison
River to about 1 mile upstream from the confluence of the mainstem of the
Gunnison and the Smith Fork (the Smith Fork flows westward through Crawford
and along the northern base of the Fruitland Mesa before flowing into with
the Gunnison). The Gunnison Gorge is known for its Gold Medal trout fishing
and for its whitewater rush.
Outfitters on the river need a Colorado river outfitter license and a BLM
commercial permit (preferably on their person). There are day-use and
overnight fees for accessing the wilderness. Folks going into the wilderness
must register at either the Gunnison Forks, Duncan, Bobcat or Ute
trailheads or at the Chukar river put-in. Maximum group size is 12, maximum
stay is 2 nights, no campfires are allowed and bring a portable, reusable
camp toilet. Pack it in, Pack it out. Bag limit on brown trout is 4 but all
rainbows you catch must be released immediately. Fishing is with artificial
flies and lures only.
Rafters, kayakers and whitewater canoeists find the Gunnison Gorge to be a
world-class remote, technical experience. Most of the water is rated Class
II to Class IV. If you run into a problem, you're in serious trouble. In the
Gorge, rescue is very difficult. From the Chukar put-in to the take-out at
Gunnison Forks (the confluence of North Fork of the Gunnison River and the
Gunnison River itself) is about 15 miles of often rocky adrenaline rush.
When water flows are below 800 cfs or above 5,000 cfs, the river is very

前几天整理去年Colorado漂流照片, 心里久久不能平静, 太多让人可以回味的瞬间,也
有一些感伤, XM回国了, 其他好些朋友很难再聚, 只能这么想:今后西部的漂流可以更
好.
现在看来今年的只会比去年更上一层楼.
东部的DEAD RIVER活动没有OPEN也爆满,让我不得不考虑连续2周 四漂DEAD,漂流运动, 终于迎来了黄金时代.

首先同时水陆两组活动是其他国人没有尝试的形式, BP的停车可能有安全的担心, 而漂
流的SHUTTLE问题和趴车安全是陆地活动无法想象的复杂头疼. 西部多日的连续漂流我
胆子放不开就是SHUTTLE问题和趴车安全让我百思不得其解
直到前几天,我发现活动人数已不得不划分为俩组时, 给了我一个灵感, 陆地的活动可
以帮水上解决SHUTTLE和后勤, 或倒过来也有可能, 虽然设计非常复杂, 不就是挑战吗.

summer

Rio Grande, Texas
So you blew it. You didn’t get your river permit applications in on time,
or maybe you did and Lady Luck closed her doors like a pair of laterals in
Lava Falls. Either way, you’re not floating any of the big-name rivers this
year. That could be a good thing.
We may be so fixated on the rare chance at rivers like the Middle Fork,
Colorado, and Selway, we neglect to discover lesser-known gems like the
hassle-free multi-day runs on this list.
Jarbridge/Bruneau rivers, Idaho
A few years ago, my friend Dan scored a rare (1 in 27) Middle Fork of the
Salmon permit, a regular on “world’s best” river trips lists. But then
the river flooded and the Forest Service cancelled our trip, leaving us high
and dry in Idaho, boats loaded down with gear and beer. We quickly settled
on southern Idaho’s Bruneau, picking up a free permit at the BLM office on
the way to the put-in, and enjoyed one of the best runs in the American West
. The Bruneau and it’s tributary, the Jarbridge, boast as much whitewater
and wilderness as any lower-48 stretch, not to mention hot springs and
Rhyolite pillars (called “hoodoos”) around every bend. For the 69-mile
stretch starting on the Jarbridge, plan on five days, treat Class IV Sevy
Falls and Wally’s Wallow with respect, and portage Class V+ Jarbridge Falls
. The 40-mile Bruneau trip culminates in a long Class III-IV whitewater
fiesta called Five Mile Rapids. Hint: This is a narrow river best suited to
smaller rafts and kayaks—and be sure to pack the calamine lotion. Info: (

Labyrinth/Stillwater Canyons, Green River, Utah
Float and bloat with the spirit of Edward Abbey, and enjoy your own desert
solitaire on the Green River. No permit is required to float Labyrinth
Canyon, a 68-mile stretch of serpentine flatwater from Green River, Utah to
the Canyonlands National Park boundary at Mineral Bottom. Permits for
Stillwater Canyon, the 52-mile section from there to the Green’s confluence
with the Colorado, are yours for the asking (but be sure to book a jet-boat
shuttle up the Colorado River to Moab, as you can only float Cataract
canyon, the Class IV stretch below, with a lottery permit. With an average
gradient of just 1.5 feet per mile, each of these deep, meandering desert
canyons makes an ideal four- or five-day trip in rafts, sea kayaks, or

Dolores River, Colorado
Starting 10 miles below McPhee Dam, the Dolores serves up a paddler’s
smorgasbord. Everything from a three-day whitewater feast to a 14-day, 174-
mile float is on the menu. Most popular are the 47 miles to Slick Rock, and
the ensuing 50-mile stretch to Bed Rock. You’ll progressing from forests of
fir and pine flanking red sandstone cliffs to groves of oak, cottonwood,
and juniper abutting desert slickrock. Expect read-and-run Class II-III
whitewater, save for Class IV Snaggletooth, and Anaszi ruins on both
stretches. The Bureau of Reclamation controls flows, with average years
providing boatable levels in April and May. Simply sign up at the put-in to
run the upper 97 miles. If floating into Utah, call or visit the BLM Web

Owyhee River, Oregon
Getting a permit is the easiest part of running the Owyhee, which knifes
through a high desert canyon to join the Snake in southeast Oregon. Launch
dates are unlimited; it’s the water levels during the river’s April to
June season that are unpredictable. Catch it at prime levels, and you’ll be
rewarded with a gem of scenery, solitude, and swirly whitewater. Run the 37
-mile Middle section from Three Forks to Rome, or the mellower 48-mile Lower
portion down to Birch Creek. Cutting through a broad volcanic plateau, the
Middle dishes up three or four days worth of Class III-IV pool-drop as well
as Class V Widowmaker, which almost everyone portages. The Lower offers four
days of mellower Class III whitewater, plus hot springs that will have you
saying ooo-ee on the Owyhee. Info: (541) 473-3144.
Rio Grande River, Texas
Badges? You don’t need no stinkin’ badges to run the Rio Grande. Well, you
do need permits, but they’re available year-round for the asking, whether
you’re paddling Colorado Canyon upstream or the many canyons (Madera, St.
Elena, Marsical, San Vicente, Hot Springs, and Boquillas) of Big Bend
National Park. Reach for the sky yourself on one of the country’s most
dramatic canyon runs, offering up to 150 miles of whitewater and wilderness
along the Texas-Mexico border, including the lower 83-mile float from La
Linda to Dryden Crossing. The Rio Grande is best run during the spring high
water, but determined canoeists can usually run year-round. Info: Colorado

Black Canyon of the Colorado River, Arizona/Nevada
You’re guaranteed to have a good dam time on the Black Canyon of the
Colorado. Why? Because you’ll put in at the base of 726-foot Hoover Dam.
While Lake Mead submerged much of the canyon’s jet-black, andesite gorge,
there are still 12 miles to float to the take-out at Willow Beach, offering
hot springs, wildlife, and side canyons. It’s a perfect overnight for
canoes, sea kayaks, or rafts. Ringbolt, a Class 1+ riffle named for an iron
ring used to winch steamboats upstream in the early days, is the only rapid.
Call an outfitter beforehand to obtain a permit and arrange a shuttle to
the restricted-access put-in at the base of the dam. FYI: You don’t need
any permit to put in at Willow Beach and paddle upstream to the dam. That,

终于可以松了口气, 多少年不停在WILDERNESS的研究和组织经验上的积累, 我知道自己

BTW, 野水漂流在美国的商业收入是几十个亿, 原比GUDIE 野雪(BACKCOUNTRY SKIING), GUIDE野山(CLIMBING)商业收入高得多, 但漂流远远被ASIAN忽略了.WILDERNESS的水上部分是巨大的探索空间. | m****g

我们的活动易吸引摄影爱好者的注意, 水和WILDERNESS的魅力和多变的SETTING, 还有
过RAPID的惊心动魄是摄影的很好题材.
去年摄影这块不是特别理想, 由于安全负担异常重, 加上手忙脚乱, 大部分的瞬间只留
在记忆里, 只有DOLORESS比较多, 今年我们装门派一强人负责摄影, 特别是水上部分,

hope the trend hold. Usually on Aug 1, 20% very runnable, 20% barely
runnable, 60% un-runnble. Hope this year it will be top 10%.
The accelerated runoff in a region with a snowpack at 188 percent of its 30-
year average could immediately swell streams in the upper and middle regions
of the Yampa River basin, according to the National Weather Service.
Steamboat Springs, Craig, Hayden, Oak Creek and smaller communities along
rivers and streams could be affected, forecasters said.
Below the Williams Fork Reservoir in Grand County this afternoon, a
streamflow gauge recorded 571 cubic feet per second, surpassing the record
of 567 cfs set in 1952, according to the the U.S. Geological Survey.
"Many creeks and streams throughout northeast Utah and western Colorado will
be on the rise this weekend and into early next week as warmer temperatures
return to the region," according to the National Weather Service's weekend
hydrological report. "This will accelerate the mid mountain snow melt
resulting in high and fast-moving waterways.
"Counties that will be impacted include Routt, Moffat, Pitkin, Eagle,
Gunnison, Mesa, Delta and western Montrose counties in western Colorado."
State and federal hydrologists have warned for weeks of a potentially severe
spring flooding season, because of the historic snowpack, late winter
storms and a slow spring melt-off so far this year.

The skiing is still good at those Colorado resorts still open. The views to
the west from Denver are still of freshly snow-packed mountains. Colorado
finally has some moisture. All is good, in other words. Perhaps. If it all
melts at once, though, Colorado and other Western states could be in for a
world of hurt.
The New York Times reported over the weekend that disaster managers
throughout the West are getting very worried about the potential for
flooding.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — For all the attention on epic flooding in
the Mississippi Valley, a quiet threat has been growing here in the West
where winter snows have piled up on mountain ranges throughout the region.
Thanks to a blizzard-filled winter and an unusually cold and wet spring,
more than 90 measuring sites from Montana to New Mexico and California to
Colorado have record snowpack totals on the ground for late May, according
to a federal report released last week.
Those giant and spectacularly beautiful snowpacks will now melt under
the hotter, sunnier skies of June — mildly if weather conditions are just
right, wildly and perhaps catastrophically if they are not.
Fear of a sudden thaw, releasing millions of gallons of water through
river channels and narrow canyons, has disaster experts on edge.
“All we can do is watch and wait,” said Bob Struble, the director of
emergency management for Routt County in north-central Colorado. The county
’s largest community, Steamboat Springs, sits about 30 miles from the
headwaters of the Yampa River, a major tributary of the Colorado River that
has 17 feet of snow or more in parts of its watershed.
“This could be a year to remember,” Mr. Struble added in a recent
interview in his office as snow fell again on the high country.

Floods kill more Americans than lightning, tornados or hurricanes in an
average year, according to federal figures. And flash floods, usually
associated with summer downpours, like the one that killed more than 140
people in Big Thompson Canyon in Colorado in 1976, can come as if from
nowhere.
“It just takes one really sunny hot spell to get things running,” said
Arthur Hinojosa, the chief of the Hydrology and Flood Operations Office
with the California Department of Water Resources. “And that’s where our

再次提醒一下安全问题。就今年春天5，6两个月，Arkansas river漂流已经死了三个了
，Clear Creek一个，还都是商业漂流，照理应该安全系数大一些。今年冬天雪季特别
长，所以春天水特别大，据说是400-500年罕见。不过七月底估计会小很多。

The Gunnison Gorge run is beautiful. Consists mostly of class III pool drop
style whitewater. Plenty of play so consider bringing your playboat. The
most notable rapid is Narrow Rapid, here the river constricts into canyon.
Be prepared for the Chukar Trail hike into the put-in, approximately 1 mile.

Located just down stream of the put in, Chukar is a single drop class III.
Most choose to run center at higher water and the right slot at lower flows.
There is a nice tongue left of center at flows around 750 cfs. After Chukar
is One Miler Rapid - Class III, run left of the center rock depending on

At mile 2.5 and 3, both consist of narrow slots at lower flows. At flows

The Gunnison Gorge Wilderness is about 17,784 acres along the Gunnison River
inside the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area, about 9 miles
northeast of Montrose (but a couple hours drive over some great dirt roads).
The Wilderness begins at the northwestern boundary of Black Canyon of the
Gunnison National Park and runs north through the double canyon (a unique
system of black granite cut with layers of red sandstone) of the Gunnison
River to about 1 mile upstream from the confluence of the mainstem of the
Gunnison and the Smith Fork (the Smith Fork flows westward through Crawford
and along the northern base of the Fruitland Mesa before flowing into with
the Gunnison). The Gunnison Gorge is known for its Gold Medal trout fishing
and for its whitewater rush.
Outfitters on the river need a Colorado river outfitter license and a BLM
commercial permit (preferably on their person). There are day-use and
overnight fees for accessing the wilderness. Folks going into the wilderness
must register at either the Gunnison Forks, Duncan, Bobcat or Ute
trailheads or at the Chukar river put-in. Maximum group size is 12, maximum
stay is 2 nights, no campfires are allowed and bring a portable, reusable
camp toilet. Pack it in, Pack it out. Bag limit on brown trout is 4 but all
rainbows you catch must be released immediately. Fishing is with artificial
flies and lures only.
Rafters, kayakers and whitewater canoeists find the Gunnison Gorge to be a
world-class remote, technical experience. Most of the water is rated Class
II to Class IV. If you run into a problem, you're in serious trouble. In the
Gorge, rescue is very difficult. From the Chukar put-in to the take-out at
Gunnison Forks (the confluence of North Fork of the Gunnison River and the
Gunnison River itself) is about 15 miles of often rocky adrenaline rush.
When water flows are below 800 cfs or above 5,000 cfs, the river is very
