Yeah, google map auto starts whenever you enable wifi or data signals.
Dont worry, use "Task Manager" to add Google Map to "auto end list". The
process should be killed a couple of minutes after you turned off screen.
Actually, I have added almost all apps to auto-end list. It saves battery!!!
On one charge, my Atrix lasts 4 days!!!
