TFP vs. iPad2的 shawdow gun demo。很明显,iPad2上根本就没做
水的涟漪倒影这些东西,细节上比Android差了一个档次。比忘了
TFP需要多render 30%的像素。

the developer didn't do the optimization. the A5 gpu power is listed there
black and white, a good game developer could leverage it.

That at least contradicts the Android is the stepson statement.
And this is a premier game.

there are plenty market report indicate iOS is still the first choice.
if a game company has limited resource and want to make money plus they don'
t rely on google's sponsorship (for example free topline phones from google
io conference as the candy), they will first make the game available on iOS.

Well, according to this review in October. All the claims that
iOS is a better game platform apparently have no merit. If the best
of the breed game doesn't match its Android peer. Any speculation is
pale. And as I said, although iOS users are more willing to pay, the
number of Android users is too big to ignore.

游戏开发有时候不是平台本身的问题,还是看开发组在哪个平台下功夫多。对很多组来
说ios引擎应该早很多,结构设计也是根据nextstep的结构设计的,然后移植到android
,结构上总会吃点亏。这个问题慢慢会好起来。
当然java还是有些天生劣势。

This game was out for IOS first and ported to Android later because Unity engine allows easy ports. It sold very poorly on Android market just like GTA3.
The version you linked is a special version made for Tegra 3 bought by
Nvidia to preload on the new tablet. A5 iPad gpu > tegra 3 according to Anandtech benchmarks and tegra 3 not even out yet! iPad 3 will beat it even more.
The version you can buy in Android market today does not have those effects.
Mika (developer of many big hits on both platforms like Zombieville, Battle Heart, his games hit number 1 on each store before) using Unity replied to my thread, see first post on page 3 below. Android is 5 percent of his iOS revenue this year.

LOL, TFP will hit market next week, tons of reviews have been there.
We are not talking about prototype. In any sense, it shows how tegra3
is superior to A5 with proper optimization. And I don't think offscreen
benchmark is that meaningful. After all, A5 has been there since March.
There's no resonable explanation why the iOS counterpart hasn't been
optimized or improved with the same rendering details.

i donna how do you define the best of the breed.
shadow gun using the engine that has no optimization for apple A5 (which
made shadow gun could even run with similar effect on iPhone 3GS), actually
they made optimization for the Tegra chip.
so what you compared is not a reasonable comparison.
it is almost a fact that A5 has much better graphics processing power than
other chips Android phone is using. And considering android just started put
more effort in hardware acceleration, there is almost no way you could
really find a similar game to compare the new infinity blade 2 (the iPhone
4s/ipad2 optimized version which brought in a lot of light and shadow effect
and detail texture rendering) on android.

Infinity Blade is absent from Android due to the developer's
decision. They are afraid of piracy and that's nothing performance
related.
It's fairly easy to disable certain features on lower end phone
using the same app. That shadow gun thing is not a good excuse.
We have to compare apple to apple.
In the slashgear demo TFP beats iPad2 handily in both games.

I'd call A5's superior A5 propaganda until the rendering effects
are proven otherwise. Never mind the 30% pixel difference in the first place.
In any sense, if these demo do not prove Android is a better gaming
platform, it at least proves it's a capable platform. And plug in
a game control using USB, a HDMI cable to TV. That's a much better
experience than getting robbed by Apple again for those proprietary
connectors.

the graphics are much better on Android in this shadowgun demo.
This IS user experience.It's already happened, right?
The interesting part in this thread is that Apple supporters now start
taking about hardware advantage instead of user experience. That is
something rare.

I believe if this game made A5 optimization, you will see better graphics on
ios devices.
if as goodbug talking about the experience of easy hooking up game
controller etc.. that will make some points... not the graphics at this
moment.
I am pretty sure A5 is still lead in graphics now.

The point is that we don't know if A5 can deliver that kind of rendering
effect.
iPad2 is out for 9 months already. It's hard to believe optimization like
that
hasn't been done for a premier game. Shadowgun is a popular game on iOS too.
There's no point not to raise the bar by now.
I have to see it to believe it.

as for why the so far best visual game is not avaliable on android:
"When a consumer gets the phone and they wanna play a game that uses our
technology, it's got to be a consistent experience, and we can't guarantee
that [on Android]. That's what held us off of Android," he said.

The effect is great, but it's trailer and trailer doesn't count.
I'd been in gaming industry a few years to know some tricks.

Once again, the games you linked are SPECIAL versions NOT available on
Android market, PRELOADED on Tegra 3 to sell the new tablet. There is
exactly one Android device which is not even available in mass that can use this version.
Nvidia paid for this development and made it exclusive. Those developers
would have never bothered otherwise because of very poor sales for those
games. Shadowgun sold 50000-100000 copies on Android market.
IOS has far far far more graphic intensive games (Infinity Blade, Epoch, Dark Meadows, just to name a few) because apps actually sell there. Both games were available on IOS for months before they came out for Android. Android is second class citizen unless Google can provide a more profitable environment. Nvidia and Tegra Zone just adds more fragmentation. Normal users do not know what chain fire is and games for tegra zone can not be played on Galaxy devices.
No one in their right mind would think Android gaming is anywhere near iOS right now. Unless you want to wait for months for new releases that may or may not work for your device (and generally not as optimized. Hell many of the iOS top selling games are not even on Android, because android users don't pay.
