Police have arrested a massage therapist for sexual battery.
In November 2012, an adult victim in her late teens reported to detectives
that she had been sexually assaulted in June 2012 by a massage therapist
while at a massage appointment at LaBelle Day Spa & Salon at 855 El Camino
Real. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 35-year-old Rajesh
Kumar Vashisht of Menlo Park and began an investigation into what had
occurred and if there were any additional victims.
Detectives worked collaboratively with the administrative staff of the salon
and were able to eventually locate three additional women (all in their
twenties or thirties) who reported that the same therapist had also sexually
assaulted them during three individual massage appointments that occurred
between February 2012 and December 2012. Those three women reported that
those crimes had occurred at the Stanford Shopping Center location of the
same spa. By the time detectives were able to locate and interview these
women, the suspect was no longer an employee of the salon.
At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives presented the case to the
Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, who filed charges against
the suspect. On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at about 1:45 p.m., the
suspect self-surrendered at the Palo Alto Police Department on an arrest
warrant charging him with misdemeanor sexual battery. Police booked the
suspect at the station and released him after he posted bail. A booking
