A: Maleficent knew Stefan when she was young. Stefan used her trust to steal
her wings so he could be king. Maleficent avenged him by cursing his new-
born baby Aurora. Later on Maleficent loved Aurora as her daughter and saved
her from the curse. King Stefan died when fighting against Maleficent.
Q: What are the problem and solution?
A: Everyone hates Maleficent in the beginning. Everyone likes Maleficent in
the end.
Q: Compare Frozen and Maleficent
Both are about love and betrayal. Maleficent and Elsa are the main
characters who both have magic power. They both wanted to be loved but could
not. They got lost in the middle but were saved by love in the end. In
Frozen, Anna is also a main character (Aurora is not). Maleficent and Anna
both are betrayed by their lovers: Maleficent by King Stefan and Anna by
Prince Hans. In Frozen, the problem is smaller because Anna has a lighter
character. In Maleficent, the problem is much bigger, so they had to fight
to find a solution. Kristoff and Prince Phillip are all secondary now in the
"love" stories.

Yes, she warned King Henry and his army before she used her magic power to
destroy them. She also let go King Stefan in her self-defense.
