Say, I major in biological sciences and want to hunt a industry position aft
er graduation, but seems the only position I can apply is postdoc in compani
es. But plenties of vacancies for MS and BS. If I only take MS degree I may
apply more jobs. Is that practical? Does those jobs don't sponsor H1 usually
so ppl have to stick to Ph.D postions?
Thanks | S*F 发帖数: 33 | 2 For biomedical science major, it is quite difficult to find a scientist
position in pharmaceutical/biotech company without some postdoc training,
unless your research interest is close to their projects, or your boss has
some connection.
If you get MS, it will be fair easy for your to find a position, but career
development or promotion will be limited. It is a catch-22.
Most pharma/biotech sponsor H-1B, but as for GC, it varies. As far as I know,
few company sponsor postdoc for GC, but you can

BS, you will be considered OVERQUALIFIED, which means you will not work as
willingly as those peolple with lower degree.
Sounds a little rediculous, but it's unfortunately true... | w*******s 发帖数: 23 | 6 People said it is not good to use your MS if you have Ph.D.

9 | 9 High education but no experience is the awkward combo for a fresh Phd. But
once you step into the industry, you have better chances of moving up with
Phd plus matching experience, at least true for R&D. In biotech, phds hold
scientist positions while MS have to struggle to get out of associate
positions. But I am not familiar with your special field though.
