told me in the phone that Ava is a little bit shy.
As an amateur photographer, I don't have much experience with little girls.
But as a father of two, I know how to approach a child and how to make her
comfortable.
My strategy is to start from the kids' bedroom. That's where they are most
familiar with and where they feel most secure and comfortable. I slowly set
up my gears in Susannah's room, start the shooting with Susannah first, and
let Ava watch. I want to show her that this is a fun process.
When it is time to take photos for Ava, we go to her bedroom. I let her to
wear her most comfortable pajamas, and let her sit on her bed. She has her
stuffed animals around her.
With her mom and sister playing with her, she starts to relax. When I see
that beautiful smile, I press down the shutter.
