improvements over the previous generation. More specifically, you will see better corner to corner sharpness enhancement, better color rendition, better resistance to flare, and better overall image quality. The price difference (about $150) is well worth it, in my opinion.
Nonetheless, if you have a tight budget, the 50mm F1.4D will serve you just as well (none of those differences are detrimental - unless you have a Nikon DSLR body that can't auto focus with D version of lenses.) | t*******f
