The mirror-less system camera from Canon is called D-IX
2012-03-31 As the only major manufacturer Canon has been no mirror-less
system cameras. But this will change in the summer of 2012, as we could
learn from internal circuits from Canon Japan. The digitalkamera.de
editorial was a first photo of the new D-IX leaked. The original EOS IX APS
SLR, the IX-D, however, has little in common, it leans much more on the
PowerShot G1 X. That is, given the large image sensor and close, especially
as the technical and functional Yurukiri design with the typical dials
rather prefer to approach the male buyers who are willing to pay for a well-
made piece of engineering an appropriate price. (Benjamin Kirchheim)
The information on the Canon IX-D put us to a Japanese Canon employee who is
a big fan of digitalkamera.de. The technical details, market and price are
not yet known but, finally, the camera is still in testing, where every now
and again subtleties corrected, but the sale price should be around the 1,
000 mark. The sensor is the same model as in the PowerShot G1 X is used, the
18.7 x 14 mm large CMOS chip resolves to 14.3 megapixels. Thus, the G1 may
well represent an early X "waste product" of the long-term development of
the IX-D may be, but the latter must also be appropriate lenses are
developed, which takes more time.
The IX-D of the EOS bayonet mount looks very familiar, but has two
additional electrical contacts to realize a quick contrast autofocus for HD
video recording. The flange is however smaller than the EOS system, in order
to make the camera more compact one hand and the other smaller lenses can
allow, for an oscillating mirror is not logically the IX-D as a mirror-less
system camera. However, similar to other manufacturers like Canon offer a
lens adapter that supports all EOS lenses. For technical reasons, the auto
focus is therefore not as fast as with IX-D lenses. A particular benefit of
the adapter as well as the IX-D lenses have an electronic aperture ring - in
the EOS system, however, Canon has no aperture rings, as the aperture is
set on the camera.
Like the PowerShot G1 is also the X IX-D of a foldable and swivel display
equipped with a sturdy metal frame. A little highlight may represent the
system between the display and hot shoe mounted viewfinder video, the Canon
is a compact design and integrate it into the case was. However, he resolves
to "only" 640 x 480 pixels, a tribute to the small size, an advantage we
can accept that and use the viewfinder to display the same resolution. Even
a small flash could incorporate Canon, he goes out when needed and even
supports wireless flash control from Canon. Even the new wireless standard,
the Speedlite 600EX-RT is to work with the IX-D.
The official launch of the Canon IX-D is expected in the summer of 2012, in
time for Photokina in Cologne, from 18 to 23 September 2012 in Cologne takes
place. There also the first camera models for the interested visitors will
be ready for testing. Registered Canon Customer shall upon presentation of
the card, even a one-hour loan service will be offered in order to test the
camera on the outdoor grounds of the fair.
