For focal lens, anything longer than 24mm, will be too long in some occasion
for interior. On wide end, you want to have yourself covered at least at
24mm, 16, 17 are plus
For the best value, will be 17-40 f/4L, it covers all range you need for
interior shots. You don't need f/2.8, because you will be using f/8 or f/11
on tripod all the time.
If you need macro too, get a 50mm f/2.5 | c**n

First image is shot with 5D3, 35mm, f/2.8, iso 400, handheld. I looked
through the view finder, and don't think it is wide enough, so I did not
even bother set up tripod.
2nd and 3rd image, lens was sigma 8mm-16mm, which is a EF-S lens. I am using
it on 7D.
On 2nd image I went extreme on wide, 8mm lens on Canon 7D, 8x1.6=12.8mm
focal length, and it feels too wide. the perspective is exaggerated too much.
3rd photo, I zoomed to 11mm, 11x1.6=17.6mm focal length, and it feels better.
