must accept students based on population. Lets say the Chinese race has 10%
population in CA and the school will accept 10% Chinese students. I know it
looks bad for us but Singapore is very successful and all races are in

from different cultural background too.

biracial so technically I don't have to worry about SCA but I just don't
think it's right. SCA sounds like a political show to me. There are plenty
of schools out there where you can get the diversity you want (to give you
an example, private, or if you dont mind, community schools). I personally
support diversity myself but SCA just rubs me in the wrong way. It's a known
fact that Mexicans don't really care about education in general. This is
from a Mexican friend who is frustrated about that himself. Blacks are even
doing better than mexicans when it comes to education. I'd be okay if what
SCA promotes is with equal qualification (school performance etc) certain
amount of minority students gets priority--if that's the spirit of SCA I
then have no problem with it.

SCA5 是由民主党州参议员贺南德兹（Ed Hrnandz）提出的一项法案。该提案称，目前
加州大学系统中的亚裔学生比例过高，要求限制亚裔学生入学比例，提高非裔和拉美裔
的入学率。加州参议院1月30日以27票赞成对9票反对通过了SCA5提案。SCA5提案将于近
日被提到加州众议会再次投票。如果众议会投票通过，SCA5法案将于今年11月举行公投
。一旦提案公投通过，加州公立大学亚裔学生比例将从现在的40%下降到15%，那么亚裔
孩子在大学中势必受到排挤。
三位华裔senators，都是Democrats，都投了赞成票：

Ted Lieu (劉雲平)
From humble beginnings -- to the American Dream
Looking for a better life and opportunity for their children, Ted Lieu's
family immigrated to the United States when Ted was three years old.
Starting off living in someone's basement and selling gifts at flea markets
to make ends meet, the Lieu family cobbled together the American dream.
After many years of perseverance his parents were eventually able to expand
to six stores. With the support of hard-working parents and a country that
provided limitless opportunity, Ted would go on to attend Stanford for his
undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Political Science, and then
Georgetown University, where he received his law degree magna cum laude
after serving as Editor-in-Chief of the law review. Ted also received four
American Jurisprudence Awards.Recognizing the great opportunities America
had given to his family, Ted wanted to serve his country. He joined the
United States Air Force, where he served as a prosecutor in the JAG corps.
After serving on active duty for four years, Ted wanted to continue to serve
his country and joined the reserves. Currently, Ted wears a uniform in the
JAG corps and was recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Ted has received
numerous medals for his outstanding military service, including the Air
Force Humanitarian Service Medal and two Meritorious Service Medals.Ted's
service at Los Angeles Air Force base is what brought him to Southern
California. Professionally, Ted clerked on the Ninth Circuit Court of
Appeals, practiced civil law at Munger, Tolles & Olson, and then worked in
the private sector before he joined the Legislature. Locally, Ted continued
to serve his community. Ted served on the Rampart Independent Review Panel,
the Torrance Environmental Quality and Energy Conservation Commission, and
was later elected to the Torrance City Council. When the local
Assemblymember passed away suddenly in 2005, Ted was overwhelmingly elected
in a special election.
Carol Liu (劉璿卿)
Born into a family that has lived the California dream, both old and new:
A fifth-generation Californian on her mother’s side,Carol Liu is also the
daughter of an immigrant: her father emigrated from China before World War
II. Born in Berkeley and raised in Oakland, she attended public schools and
graduated from San Jose State College.
A successful career in public education:
Carol continued her education at the U.C. Berkeley School of Education where
she earned both a lifetime teaching credential and a credential in
education administration. She was a teacher in the Richmond, California,
public schools, teaching history at the Junior and Senior High leve before
becoming a school administrator.Carol met her future husband, Michael Peevey
, at an AFL-CIO convention while she was Executive Director of the Richmond
Federation of Teachers. They married and moved to Southern California, where
Mike had a long and successful career with Southern California Edison (SCE)
, followed by several successful business ventures. After he retired, Mike
was appointed to the California Public Utilities Commission and now serves
as its President. Carol and Mike have three children and four grandchildren.
Leland Yee (余胤良)
Leland Yee immigrated to San Francisco, California from Taishan,[2]
Guangdong, China when he was three years old and later became a naturalized
United States citizen. His father served in the United States Army and the
Merchant Marines.[3] Yee attended San Francisco's Martin Luther King, Jr.
Academic Middle School and earned a bachelor's degree from University of
California, Berkeley, a master's degree from San Francisco State University
and a Ph.D. in Child Psychology from the University of Hawaii.

加州大学前校董李心培表示，关于学校招生中存在的种族比例问题早在20年前就存在争
议。这次SCA5提案投票中，加州三位华裔参议员均投了赞成票，这让身为李心培很不能
理解。他称，亚裔民众推选他们出来，就是希望他们能够在关键时刻维护亚裔居民的权
利，保护我们的利益。而这次提案的投票中，他们非但没有保护亚裔居民，反而倒向另
一边，支持减招亚裔学生。无论他们抱有什么政治目的，都不能以牺牲亚裔居民的利益
