ALBANY — Carlos Ko is back in Albany, back from Virginia Beach and the U.S.
National table tennis tournament. And back in the conversation.
“I surprised a lot of people. People were amazed,’’ said Ko, who made it
the quarterfinals in two events and won the 2300 Men’s Singles championship
.
The 2300 rating is based on where players are ranked, and Ko, who is ranked
No. 100 in the nation, entered the 2300 competition as the 13th seed in the
145-man field. He shocked many of the competitors.
Ko, 40, who was born in South Korea and now makes his home in Albany, was
out to prove a point in the U.S. Nationals, and he did, playing at a high
level in the regular table tennis competition.

他现在积分2380，我比赛没完就回去了，不出意外，他应该是最后的冠军，其他人的差
距比较大。
积分最低的是位中国女士，聊了一下，当地人，经常打球，球性比较熟，不过直板全台
block，基本上很难赢球，我也没注意她的积分，估计比较低。
积分1810多的，一聊，居然一半中国血统，不过不会说中文，名字上也看不出中国元素。
积分第四位的来自FSU，运动服背面赫然有几枚大字FSU 乒乓球队，其中队还是big5，
中国女士问我他是不是华人，因为他确实时不时能蹦几句中文，比如，你好，到你了，
什么的，但我真看不出来，感觉J位混血混的比较复杂。用日直，单面，真是我在美国
第一次看非亚裔用这样的拍子。
第五位的美国小伙子 能打打，但是非受迫失误比较多，赢球很难，看他跟1810多的打
，MS还赢了一局，我当时看也jiao着1800+的有些注水，不过看是一方面，自己不打打
是没法轻易下结论的，跟小马过河的原理一样。
第一场比赛我的对手是FSU的日直小伙子，最近几年打比赛比较少，想不起来见过没见
过J位，应该没交过手，他1600+。
J小伙子因为单面，所以思路还是对的，就是抢先上手，内一板正手还是有些威力的，
当然前提是得打到台子上，前两局，他打不上的太多，我轻松搞定。我心里窃喜，看来
现在虽然烂，切1600+还是问题不大。不过第三局起，风云突变，对手命中率上来了，
我J稍微一懈怠，连输两局，虽然都是close比赛，一局9：11，另一局忘了是不是deuce
了，但都是我落后很多追回来的，局面很被动。第五局我全力以赴，争取不落后，所以
打的还好，一直领先，10：6的时候我发球，想想可以练几枚了，结果都没打上，10：8
以后，对手又追成了10：9，然后我不幸吃了一枚发球，deuce了。尼玛，眼瞅着要被翻
盘了，小伙子异常兴奋，啦啦队都来了。还好，关键时刻我顶住了，对方拿到赛点以后
也没手软，经过几次deuce后，还是有惊有险地拿下了比赛，最后时刻真是出了不少汗。 |
