One winter morning back into high school,
I was late for the first class
(as I always do),
which was literature (that's cool).
Entering the classroom,
from my shoulder shrug the snow off,
surprisingly, I found
the teacher was explaining two poems to us all.
One was "Fog" by Sandburg,
the other I can't recall.
Since it's out of my expectation,
I was kind of excited.
Plus I knew about the poet a little bit.

One winter morning back into high school,
I was late for the first class
(as I always do),
which was literature (that's cool).
Entering the classroom,
from my shoulder shrug the snow off,
surprisingly, I found
the teacher was explaining two poems to us all.
One was "Fog" by Sandburg,
the other I can't recall.
Since it's out of my expectation,
I was kind of excited.
Plus I knew about the poet a little bit.
"The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on."
...This poem expresses the dissapointment
of the poet at big cities...
There the teacher concluded.
What?!
My eyes wide open.
Couldn't believe my ears!
Where did he get that idea!
Sat there, startled I was.
