generally has some matured ideas based on previous results and supported by
some funding. APs have to dig new projects which are different from his
previous research, or he cannot compete with his advisor.

但是不排除部分AP还是很有idea的,这一类的最终能拿到funding和tenure,所以普遍来
讲,评上tenure的老板,平均水平高些,再差也有几成,找tenure后的老板比较保险
那些没有idea,根本不是做研究的那块料的AP,最终会被淘汰掉,混不到tenure那一天

some are preparing to retire;some creative will transfer to tier 2 or tier 1
university. That's what I observed.
