被fire，J1失效，one month grace period快到了，新工作没找到，想转成B2，在美
国从容的玩一玩在回国，能办成么？ 是不是只要交上转身份申请，就可以在美国合法
居留了？

even it will be denied, after the application submitted, during the pending
time, I can legally stay in US? right?
My purpose is just trying to buy some time....
not really interested in getting the status changed.

发帖数: 516 | 5 仔细想了想，是可以转的，好像J1不办waiver不能转有移民倾向类身份，比如H1，但是
可以转成其他没有移民倾向的身份，比如F1。
明天我再跟律师核实一下。

The application to extend or change to B-1/B-2 status is made after the
applicant has entered the U.S. on a valid nonimmigrant visa. The application
is made on Form I-539.

发帖数: 516 | 9 no,my boss is a jerk, you can talk to yours, if he/she is nice he/she may.
Start looking for another position ASAP, don't waste time if you know your
boss is running out of money.

waiver，如果能在这个时间内拿到waiver，就可以转。补不出waiver就会被denied，不
过你还是可以自递交B2起居留美国180天。 | y*****9

maybe not all of them are that aware their own policy??
I think it's J1 without waiver can transfer to other nonimmigrant status,
such as F1,B2 etc, but not to immigrant status, like H1B.

发帖数: 3622 | 12 按道理上说是这样,但是移民官好象都不管,先waiver后发签证的.或者你同时办waiver,看看自己碰到移民官的运气.B2递交上去大概一个月到一个半月的时候会让你提交waiver,加上给一个月的期限,大概是2个半月的样子.
