发帖数: 80 | 1 我目前在日本做博后，合同到3月底。联系到美国的博后，可以从4月开始工作。
因为时间正好接上了，所以我要在东京办签证。想请教如下几个问题，希望有在第三方
国家办过签证的朋友帮忙建议。
1.关于证明我在国内关系的材料，以示以后会回国。我的想法是，a让父母在国内开一
个亲属关系的公证（中英文），b因为之前和国内一所名牌大学的教授有过几封求职通
信，email里教授表示了对我的兴趣和欢迎，但是没有进行到最后给offer的阶段。打印
这几封email不知道是否对visa有帮助（表示我将来的career plan）？
2.postdoc免税的问题。在网上看到说最好是从中国转机再入境美国，才能免税？我对
此有点疑惑，应该说是只要我持有中国护照，都是享受postdoc免税的吧，和从哪里入
境有关系么？
3.如果有朋友也在东京办过美国签证，可否告知大概需要的时间（我是ee的，不知道会
不会被check）和其他需要注意的事项?

not enough, either from China.
2.It is fine, I got J visa in Japan and not back to China.
2. I was checked, took 79 days in 2004. |

but a few doubts..
1. what do you mean by "Dean of medical School etc."? typo? By the way, when
I contacted the US professor, the recommendation letter was not required.
Do I need recommendation letters from my current boss for visa application?

发帖数: 9035 | 4 1. I gave you an example. If you want to back to School of Pharmacy,
Shanghai Jiaotong University, you need to get official(English)
recommendation letter from Dean to show they can accept you after finishing
your program. The letter need English official-head title paper, and
signature.
It is better to get recommendation letter from your current boss.
You need a statement showing why you want to come to US, and your future
career plan. |

after finishing your program, it is basic requirements of all J1 visa. |

country when I applied for my J1 visa a few years ago in a third country. My
application was approved right away and I got the visa after two working
days. |

美国大使馆的网页上也没有写明具体需要什么材料来证明“you have no intention to
stay in USA after finishing your program”。所以我才发帖想问问大家都是怎么
准备得。我已经让父母在国内帮我开了中英文的亲属关系公证书，作为备用材料。
楼上的朋友很lucky哦，我也希望可以顺利的拿到visa:)
另外，税的问题，我大致得到如下的信息：如果是在第三方国家工作，比如日本，超过
1年，再去美国J1的话，则遵循美国和日本之间的tax treaty，而不是看国籍。好在日
本和美国之间也是2年的J1免税。 |

发帖数: 1263 | 13 美国的很多法规都定义的很模糊，所以税的问题在很大的程度上由你雇主的payroll
office来决定。比如我就是按照中美的3年免税，所以到时候你就和你的payroll
office说你要求走中美协议。如果payroll office坚持采用日美协议，你最后的办法就
是在每年报税的时候争取退税。
