校International Office的工作人员认为不要急着转，J1还有两年多，用完了再转。我
讲是为了申请绿卡，而且已经咨询了律师，工作人员才同意我办，但是要到6月底才能
开始处理我的case。
后来，又因为系主任签字问题等到了8中旬，直到8月底，才把所有材料（附件1）
交到Office。
9月初，Office通知贴广告（Two copies of the attached posting notice must be
printed out and posted in two places in Dr. XXX’s area of intended
employment. Frequently one copy is posted somewhere in the lab, and another
on a hall or conference room bulletin board. Please be sure that whoever
posts the notices writes where each notice is posted in the Place Posted
section at the bottom of the notice. Once the posting period is over, please
be sure that the notices are removed and the bottom portion completed by
whoever removes the notices.）。
9月16日，Office通知已经向USCIS递交了我的材料和825美元（I129的325元，
Fraud Fee 的500元，自己先出，然后由老板给报销）。9月27日USCIS邮寄回了I797C，
得到了Case Number，可以在网上查询状态编号（https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/
Dashboard/CaseStatus.do）。
之后就是等待，隔三差五查状态，一直是Initial Review。2012年1月6号，看到了
状态更新，已经跳过了Decision，直接是Post Decision Activity。这应该代表H1获批
，再往后就是学校内部程序了。
整个过程比豁免要简单，自己做的就是等待，但是这份等待实在让人领会了美国人
的效率和一种无奈。之后的绿卡申请才是正题，可能有更多感慨吧。希望自己下一步好
运。
附件1：学校需要的材料清单
Completed H-1B portion of Application
Legible copies of biographical data, picture, U.S. entry stamps and renewal
pages in passport
Legible copies of all U.S. visas issued to applicant
Legible copies of front and back of most recently issued I-94 card
Legible copies of all diplomas – Certified English translations, if
necessary, are required
Evaluation by a formal credentials evaluation (strongly recommended – Lack
of formal credentials evaluation may delay the processing of your petition
by USCIS)
Legible copies of all Forms I-20, DS-2019/IAP66 and EAD documents (if
applicabl)
Legible copies of all previous J waiver approval notices (if applicable)
Current curriculum vitae or resume

Initial Review：
On September 19, 2011, we received this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT
WORKER, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case.
Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail
when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you
move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online
tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer
service center at 1-800-375-5283.During this step, USCIS initiates the
background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may
need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/
petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews
the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are
national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the
application/petition for fraud indicators.
Post Decision Activity：
On January 5, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129
PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER. Please follow any instructions on the
notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at
1-800-375-5283. For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity
may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition
to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied
applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of
an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations. | f*******r
