if her current H4 approval is valid well into the future, it is probably not
necessary for her to do anything right now. The H4 isn’t tied to a
specific employer the way the H1B is. She’ll just need to apply for an
extension at some point if your new employer requests an end date that goes
beyond your/her current end dates.

Thanks for your email. I spoke with the attorney on your case regarding your
question below. Yes, you are correct, your wife's H-4 status will remain
valid through 08/31/2016. Note, though, that we are requesting your own H-1B
status be extended through 10/31/2017, so if she is to remain here past 08/
31/2016, you will have to extend her status at that point. Her extension
validity will then be linked to your own, and be valid as well through 10/31
/2017. Alternatively, she can travel abroad prior to 08/31/2016 and return
with a copy of your H-1B extension approval notice, and she should then be
admitted through the validity period of the extension without the need for a
separate H4 petition.
他的意思是目前可以不办，和版上的意见不一样，很困惑啊。另外他们办H4收500刀律
师费，申请费是另外的，以前老学校办H4给了材料清单，文件都齐全，是不是可以我自
己申请。
因为下礼拜搬家，如果律师说的是对的，老H4有效，我想等搬家之后申请，就没有向
USCIS改地址的麻烦事了。就怕遇见不靠谱的律师，耽误了，想听听大家意见。 |
