BRIEF INTRODUCTION
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Nanjing University was
founded in 1920, and now composed of three departments: Chemistry, Chemical
Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering. In the past nine decades,
about 40 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science once studied or
worked here. As one of the leading schools in chemistry amongst Chinese
universities, the Chemistry Discipline of Nanjing University ranked 2nd best
ni the third round of the national disciplinary assessment in 2012.

PERSONAL TRAINING
The school is enlisted amongst the first national bases for teaching and
researching in basic sciences. The Demonstration Center for Experiment
Teaching of the school was ranked No. 1 in the first national assessment of
Experiment Teaching Center for Excellence launched in 2005. Five of the
fundamental chemistry courses were recognized as the Nationally Excellent
Courses. Two teaching contingents have been selected as State Teaching
Contingent by the Ministry of Education. The school has received more than
30 national and provincial teaching awards and many other honorary titles.
The school recruits about 150 undergraduate and 270 graduate students each
year.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Since 2010, the school has received more than 200 grants from the National
Natural Science Foundation of China, among them 1 nationl key project for
scientific instruments development, 2 projects for creative research groups,
16 key projects and 1 major project, 4 distinguished young scholar award
projects, 5 excellent youth scholar award projects, and 68 grants from the
Ministry of Science and Technology of China and Jiangsu Province.
The annual research funds of the school have reached about 140 million Yuan.
According to the statistics of the Institute for Scientific Information (
ISI), the number of paper published by the school and their total citation
are among the top 1‰ in the global research institutions, respectively
ranking at 16th and 28th positions, which makes the school on the top of the
list in the universities of mainland China. Due to the excellent
achievements made, this school was awarded 3 second prizes of National
Natural Sciences, 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress
, 10 first prizes of ministerial and provincial awards in the last decade.
EXCHANGE AND COOPERATION
The school maintains strong international academic exchanges and cooperation
with foreign institutions. Many world-leading scholars, including several
Nobel laureates, are invited to be guest professors of the school. Several
other internationally recognized scholars are recipients of National Science
Fund for Overseas Distinguished Young Scholars. The school has hosted and
sponsored 15 national and international conferences on various topics in
recent 5 years. Well-known scientists including several Nobel laureates were
invited to give lectures and speeches at the school. Faculty members
