h*******y 发帖数: 864 | 5 The approriate question is whether psychology is science. :)
You question is hard to answer. Many psychologists cannot answer it yet. All
the evidence can only be extended to certain population. In other word, the
theories apply to people within certain population.
There is debate whether psychology is science. Many people view psyhcology as
something outside science because mental processes can not be measured
exactly. Moreover, psychology is studying introspection which cannot be
observed direc

r******s 发帖数: 2155 | 7 Psychology is not palm reading. It's a science.
Many people here don't know simply because psychology is new to Chinese
and sometimes considered synonymous to philosophy there.
In addition, there are multiple levels of psychological studies.
The levels of "scienceness" vary.
enn, the question really is why does it matter whether psychology is
science or not.

proofed?

s*******n 发帖数: 121 | 9 I think it does matter. To be "science" means there is a well accepted plat
for communication, there is a system to reject or estimate a theory. I think
many psychologists do want their theory to be accepted and helpful to the
public.
As to the love theory, if there is a clear definition of context that the
theory can be applied and proofed to be true, i guess it can be treated as
science. If it is just someone's understanding of love and lack of strict
definition, maybe they are still helpful f
