Actually David Hothersall's book is pretty good. I took his class the
first
quarter when I came to US. It was 7:30 in the morning. With his heavy English
accent
and the sleepiness, I literally learned nothing in that class.
Now, the more I learn, the more I realize that everything in psychology,
or even
social and behavioral sciences, is connected. That's why I am thinking of find
a book
that is comprehensive in terms of covering the whole spectrum of psychology.

Psychology by Elist Hearst, is another not-so-interesting text..

What I am trying to suggest is to start with a good understanding of the histo
ry of western philosophy. You won't go wrong with Bertrand Russell's classic h
ere. After getting through that one, the history of psychology is pretty easy
to grasp. All the X'isms in psychology will all make sense, as I had felt whi
le in college :)
