Last-Minute Decisions
Exits polls from South Carolina suggest we are heading to a victory for Newt
Gingrich fueled largely by voters who made their minds up in the last few
days.
According to CNN, Gingrich is projected to get 38 percent of the votes, Mitt
Romney will get 29 percent, Rick Santorum will get 17 percent and Ron Paul
will get 15 percent. The network is not yet projecting a winner, in large
part because the number in the composite polling (a.k.a. the average of exit
polls and polling leading up to the voting) is not wide enough. That said,
ABC and NBC both immediately projected a Gingrich win.
According to CBS News, 64 percent of South Carolina Republican primary
voters said the recent Republican presidential debates "played an important
factor in their decision." Gingrich largely dominated those forums, and had
memorable standoffs with moderators Juan Williams of Fox News and John King
of CNN.
Meanwhile, according to those same exit polls, 53 percent of voters said "
they made up their mind about who to back within the last few days."

会选他当总统。
