1. 完美网络用户界面

这个我估计也要占用大量时间的说, 我总觉得如果做一个成功的管理者, 除了MGT的能力
外, 最重要的就是实现公司内部的信息自由交换高速处理, Walmart和戴尔能够成功, 和
他的Inventory Mgt关系最大了. 所以我认为, 做一个"非天才"型的未来管理者, 我需要
强大的数据处理能力.
Zhx和其它信息的同志们, (我不是信息的), 你说为了这些功能, 我要学什么编程呢? 当
时自学C++, JAVA, SAS, 做了习题, 但是都没有能够坚持下来, 因为没有什么要编的吧.
如果教程里面有一个大PROJECT, 估计学的可能更加好一点.

For example, I asked him for a number ---- like how much we billed in the
Month of March. Since there are "duplicates" "rebill", "wrong rates" problems,
you would have to clean up the data first before running any queries. Our data
comes from the government in the format of Access. It's super-slow and we want

I feel your company must have some problems about the process. Maybe you
should focus on a proper process, while not the techinical details. Just tell
your guys clearly what you want. Then ask them if they could deliver, if not,
why. Then consult "crying" if it is so. :)

since I can see the direction clearly. If I am to be a leader, I want to be
the type of leader that knows both the detail and the frame.

I don't know how much data you guys handle every day, is it possible to
convert them to another version, say, Excel, first? Or import them to MySQL.
And do it at midnight or after work if possible, just set up a cron job to let
it run automatically. Ask your developers for details.
Since you've known the goal, just talk to your developers, it's their jobs to
realize it. And ask them to tell you in detail if you want to know more.

Honestly, i think managers who know too many details tend to focus on those
detials rather than the framework. So i think the ability of "oversee/foresee"
is more important. As well as you know what's going on there, you don't have
to care too much about details.

well, your question is hard to answer. it depends. what do you want? which OS
do you develop on? I think talk with someone, tell him/her your requirements,
then maybe it is easy to say what you should begin to learn. :)

Windows 2000 or higher. The database is about 10K unique records, about 100
variables. Access is what the database is currently based on. But we want one
that works much faster.
The time line is 1 year. They are developing a brand-new software that should
be much faster, safer, constantly updatable, saleble by parts. Though my
director boss tried his best not to let me in, my top boss was bringing me

Excel里面的统计功能都是做好了的, 你能输入的公式比较少, 而且图形丑陋, 用来制作
方块的表格是非常拿手的说. EXCEL的表格数据可以被其他数据库IMPORT进去,
譬如说ACCESS就可以直接引用EXCEL表格. 但是多数的原始数据好象都是用TXT文件存的,
格式好象是什么ASII, CSV, TAD DELIMITED等等, 无非就是用数字和符号来存,
而不象EXCEL文件一定还有大量其它信息.
SAS作为一种统计软件一个强项我认为就是数据处理的. 当然, 很多数据库软件我没有用
过, 象ZHX说的SQL SERVER, 我只知道SQL好象是BASIC一样的语言.
不同的行业用的统计软件都不一样, 象SAS好象多用于医疗类的数据进行组与组之间的对
比. GUASS就是用于经济类的宏观数据分析. 这些统计软件比EXCEL, ACCESS方便之处, 就
是把很多东西都做在里面了. 譬如要回归的话, 就是LS Y X1 X2什么的. 然后系统就光几
光几吐出一堆数据, 你需要的大多数都在里面, 还有更多的是不需要的. EXCEL能做到的,
