printing quality, paper, editorial quality, not a good deal at all.

I say it is a good deal. The quality of a magazine has no relation to
do with printing quality, paper, unless what you are talking about is
those Illustrated. As for editors, I believe DuShu maintained about the
highest quality among available Chinese magazines. Well, people's tastes
differ.

| | | b*s 发帖数: 82482 | 11 I subscribe to New Yorker, $25 a year, that's a weekly,
The Atlantic, $14 a year, monthly,
The Harper's, $18 two years, monthly
Time, $20 a year, weekly.
$1.6 per issue IS expensive.

| b*s 发帖数: 82482 | 12 The quality of a magazine depends on the editors and writers, can you find
ones in DuShu as John Updike, John Cassidy, William Langewiesche,
just name a few?
I read some DuShu issues in China, pretty boring. Some pedants write
in un-native Chinese, mingled with weird expressions (non-Chinese, non-
Western, some sort of hybrid, or potpourri), politically shy, humorless,
senseless. They don't know what's satire, what's cartoon, what's literature.
The guys in DuShu even dont' write in fluent Chines

for Chinse publishing is quite dismal. See my previous post.

| b***r 发帖数: 39 | 18 you know what? I have to agree with bos, many of those articles published
there are totally nonsense or just a combination of highly strange words. It
looked like become more and more worse, also.
But it is still one of the best magazines in China, maybe that is the really
sorry thing.
