Maugham in one of his Ashenton stories said there were many books
worth reading if he could live 1000 years. Well, wish I could also
know how to choose.

I am confused. maybe that movie changed the story too much. I havn't got a
chance to see it yet.

conclusion in a minute. but it doesn't really mean anything.. the
books are only devided into two kinds: the ones worth reading, the
ones not. is definitely the former. good news
is that, the ones that worth reading usually are fun to read..

deserving
i hv a soft spot for old dull books..those off everyone's list probably..pls
dont let this get on your nerves..it meant to be happy to have sth unexplored
ahead..;P

wonder,
weren't they monks?;P 60 of them prayed & read & copied & wrote in a desolate
abbey. over 150 servants provided all the physical labor. what the monks
possessed was solely a focused & magnified spiritual life..close contact with
books & visions day & night. i thought the author was very brilliant to set
up such an extreme & isolated condition to explore all sorts of relations btw
ppl & knowledge & religion. there's not a single woman in this novel..not
exactly..there's one who o

换句话说,要把这本书改编成电影是挺困难的,尤其因为电影依赖于
生硬(相对文字而言),很多言外之意无法顾及。
我觉得还是看书更精彩些,假如时间足够的话。
