认真地说, 到处都有很多好的游记作家, 小泉八云的曾经是英国人在中国人眼中的游记
经典.
唐宋明清的散文诗歌, 很多都可以算作游记
例如: 李白的 梦游天姥吟留别
传统的游记 徐霞客游记, 大唐西域记
文学之中, 就游记最多, 无论中西. 你的意思是, 你没怎么读过文学了?

最近读了JIM ROGERS 的两本环球游记，《INVESTMENT BIKER》 和《ADVENTURE
CAPITALIST》，
写得有趣又很长见识。

虽然海明威和奥维尔都算波西米亚人。前者过的是五块美金一天的贫穷艺术家日子。
虽然不富裕，仍然有闲钱去酒馆喝酒，去阿尔卑斯山滑雪，去钓鱼。后者思想左倾，
关心社会改革，为了体验生活过着社会最底层的无产阶级生活。
两本书都很有名，一起看应该很有趣吧？我也想重温一下《The Moveable Feast》。
真是生恨短而书恨多呢。谢谢你的推荐。
邓小平、周恩来、刘少奇等等留法勤工俭学也差不多同时。大概几年的差别罢？

pedantic and at places pompous. There are also endless citations of Latin...

tolerance on these traits :-) However, the book does not seem the worst
example in these aspects, considering when it was written (1st published in
1904) and what is it about (Medieval France, mostly high society).
(BTW: You may take a look at Adam Gopnik's "Paris to the Moon". Although I
haven't seen the whole book, pieces of it on New Yorker suggests that it
should make a more relaxed reading.)

Lately I have also been interested in French mideval architecture. I am
reading two books from library on this topic:
Notre Dame in Paris -- the biography of a cathedral by Allan Temko (1955)
and
Cathedrals and castles -- building in the middle ages by Alain Erlande-
Brandenberg (1995)
The first book was written by a Pulitzer winning critic of architecture. It's
about both the architecture and also French history. The book feels old only
in it
