the US requests RMB to rise by 20%, and the Chinese government does not have
any incentive to overdo it). Last time RMB rised by 15% in 3 years under
the US pressure (2005-2008). I think this time the Central Bank might want
to do the same thing.
If so, by the end of this year, it should be ~6.5. By the end of 2011, it is
~6.1. By the end of 2012, it is ~5.8, and by the mid 2013 it is ~5.5. This
is based on the assumption that the Chinese government could have a full
control of things and the Chinese economy, although heavily hit, could still
survive, as in the last round of exchange rate increase. |
