photocopies of their passport pages is required for them to apply for their
ITIN.
It will be more complicated to apply for their ITIN if they are not here.
So it's better to do it when they are still here. You can bring your
parents (along with their passports as well as any other supporting
documents) to your local IRS office. The local IRS officer will photocopy

I think to calculate the total numbers of days for the tax purpose, you do
the following calculation for each person:
The number of days for the current tax year, Plus
1/3 x the number of days for the immediate preceding tax year, plus
1/6 x the number of days for the second preceding tax year
If the total is >= 183 days, you can claim that person as your dependent in
your tax filing.
