钱改票？
就像ion说的，愿赌服输，别到时候来reunion版问怎么办。

Actually, if you already book the return ticket in 6 minthes, the visa
office are even more willing to give you 6 monthes. Be sure to show him your
ticket receipt with the return date.
It is indeed a bet, but bet on the most likely scenario.

航空公司自己是一改动就自动发email和打电话，提前多久改就提前多久通知

有时候连route都变了都没有那个，但是有时候就变了个机型换个位子就要你

We always book 6 full month, so did many of our friends around. It saved us
1000 dollar each time.
The return date is the last date on I94.
If vo gives you less than 6 monthes, it will be 3 monthes or less. So a few
days less than 6 monthes wont make a different.
My mom visited us a 2nd time just 2 monthes after her last trip. Vo asked
her why, and wanted to see her return ticket. We did not print a receipt,
and she almost got struck there. My friend happened to pass by and
recognized my Mom. He helped explain. Vo gave my Mom another 6 monthes.
What I am trying to say is, vo gives you 6 full monthes much more often than
less, even in my mom's case.

10% less than 6 monthes + other unpredictable events, cost $250+ to change
tickets.
Take your bet. Of coures, its always case by case, judge from your own
situations.

But if you dont have any other reason for the IO to give you less than 6
monthes, after seeing your return date in 6 monthes, he on purposely gives
you less, just to mess you up?

有的是直接算180天，有的是从x月y日算到x+6月y日。所以才说不要订正好卡死到六个
月的机票。

E.g.
1/1 = 7/31
5/10= 11/9
That said, you wont always get 183 days, especially if feburary is included.

normally will give M+6, D-1, however, it is NOT "always" like you said! lots
of examples can be found here, especially for people coming agian after
6months stay or extansion of stay.
You are actually encouraging people without horrible lessons to take risk,
just save your $1000 bucks by putting your mom and dad in risk, these is not
-too-low propability to get trapped, everyone should be aware of this risk,
you make choice and deserve the results, bad or good.

even they can be claimed as your dependents if you have to pay AMT.

ticket. Will IO give my parents a shorter stay or decline their entry
simply because their return date is in 6 monthes?
Again, I have to clarify. I never chosen the dates jusy because of the tax
saving. We always put other factors on top. But the original poster wants
his/her parents to stay as long as possible, then 6 full monthes is the best
choice, the tax saving is just a nice thing to come with it.
My parents and inlaws have been here more than 6 times. They always got 6
monthes. To me, it is the safest bet. There was once, my mom had to leave
early due to my grandma's health, we paid the penalty and price difference.
There was nothing we could have done to prevent that.
Again, dont do it just for the money, put your and your parents' needs and
convenience first. We did not invite them to stay for 6 monthes untill after
we had baby a couple years ago. We never went for the money.
